I am struggling to figure out how any gas stays in the tent if I also have an exhaust fan cranking air out the top of my tent.. If I buy and hang a bag or a tank or something, how does it not just vent out the exhaust?
Please enlighten, illuminati.

You are correct, it will all go bye bye out with your ventilation, CO2 IMHO is best left for the pros. lots to learn before you will need that. I thought about getting it, but one of the good things about my basement grow is that there are 2 pilot lights in there... furnace and water heater. I have not tested CO2 levels in there, but I discovered it is too fn high to fruit mushrooms in it!
@southsilly - piping it out to the outside through a drier vent. Currently reading 500ppm in the main part of the basement. But I don't know if that is high, low, or what.

you should be fine with that. I have never used it so my advice isnt worth much more than food for thought. I was just checking out your diary, I also use COM etc, mixed with BAS 3.0 and other stuff... I have only been learning a few years, but I have found that early on, learning to water living soil properly and the dynamics of watering systems within your own grow space limitations was far more valuable, especially when running autos!!! eg, are you keeping the top layer of soil moist in your living soil autopots? or are you letting it dry out in between waterings to avoid gnats? are you also top dressing? how many times do you top dress? you watering style may be impeding your nutrient availability if your plant hasnt grown up knowing to top feed etc. Sorry for the ramble, just sharing my own learning out loud. One thing I noticed from your diary is that I do not see any mulch. if you got it great, if not and you like the COM products I dig the lobster compost and throw a handfull after every top water ( or tea/recharge etc 2x a week) when my sip is dry.
@southsilly This is my first *ever* soil run. I got the Autopots, Sohum and autos in the hopes that I wouldn't have to do anything but some LST. Answering your questions (and thanks for sharing your learning), it's all bottom fed from a with just plain water and a little Hydroguard. The top layer is bone dry and has been since day 1. No top dressing (I don't even know hat that is yet!). Everything comes from the bottom, allegedly (by the vendor) only as needed. No mulch, no COM (what is this?), no BAS.
Pure low-effort grow to see if the over the counter living soil claims of "just add water" to see if that's real, with no help and no tinkering.
I am usually all hydro, and TBH these indoor soil grows I am doing this fall are making me nervous. I have never had bugs or anything else inside that might come in with soil. So my fingers are crossed and we'll see what's in store after the soil run ends in November!
Thanks again for your questions and comments.

Great! I dig the setup man. Welcome to soil!

You should try the mulch. Doesnt have to be costly i think the COM lobster compost is $12 in my area.Put a good 1 inch layer on, and that may allow your system to moisten the upper layer without drying out. You could even use some cardboard cut to fit, or shredded. Rice hulls if you have access.
Looking food so far
I hear ya @matommy, hydro is so much easier than this damn Dirt!! 🤣 Plus it makes me sleepy just watching it slowly grow. LOL I can't wait to get back in the water! lol
@southsilly Thanks for the explanations! I'm gonna see how this grow plays out. If it truly a lazy man's way to grow some variety autos without trying too hard, I'll risk the bugs and shit. If not, I'm not sure. My goto is currently RDWC, and I'm putting a big honking light in that tent this weekend, so it's going to be my happy place.
