With all theses no need for nutes soil that needs nothing bar water is it right to have competitions that includes plants grow that way
I mean the folks using it vs folks feeding plants themselves.
there’s a big difference between the both I think
@mix I think the yield off a plant that is fed nutes in its water is a bigger and better vs the no nutes soil plant so I kind of agree with you their. This is just what I've seen could be totally wrong aswell
@buster2704 Hi was wondering what are your thoughts on just growing w/ what's usually called "super soil " I've used Coast of Maine (Stonington blend ) a couple times & I really like not having to worry about adding the rights nuit's or overdoing them or not using the right stuff ,etc.. anyway have you or anyone else used that or a simular type of soil ? I'm just trying to get the best outcome from my grow ( I've only done 3 grow's but I had help w/ them ) this is my 2nd one now that I've done completely on my own . right now I've got 2 tangerine dream auto's & I'm still learning the basic's & what do do n not do I'm down in S.W. Florida & this is an indoor grow ( wasn't sure if had mentioned this)
this is how i had my seedling's in at first ( the little square domed box thing ) after I did the paper towel germ. method. I just planted one of the one's that has 3 little set's of leaves ( besides the cotyledon's ) not crazy about the coconut coir pod thing's to start the seeds after germination. I'll do the next set of seeds differently. I know I should probably have posted this in the diary section I guess see ya all.

Growing is about more than just feeding the plant, and I get where your coming from but by the same token if I go outside and dig up a hunk of soil and chuck an auto in it, there is every chance that plant will make it through to harvest without ever needing extra nutrient added, you cant buy that soil so does that mean I am then excluded because no one else is on level playing field lol, how good the quality of that plant is at the end of the grow is completely dependant on grower input though imo. Pre mix soil is a legitimate grow medium, as is growing in dwc or coco. some people aren't comfortable with the amount of work goes into other mediums especially as a new grower it can be overwhelming to try learn a whole bunch of essentially chemistry and concentrate on the plant itself on top of that, and its unfair to exclude them from or anyone else from a competition because they chose a different method that they understood better or suited their situation better. I have seen people struggle to produce a decent quality plant in premix soil and others that just smash it out of the park, and same with coco and dwc. For me its about how the plant is trained and overall structure of the plant, a quality plant doesn't have to yield a pound, and a pound plant isn't always quality. So yeah to me they are growing their own and deserve as much recognition as the guys that grow other methods, same end goal and more people growing herb so its a win win.

Well put bubble.👍
I like my ideas being challenged it broadens the mind. 😋
It's a bit like the Wacky Races, all the vehicles (grow methods) are different but you still have to make it from point A to point B and how you get there is up to you in your own personal vehicle of choice, just watch out for Dick Dastardly along the way though 😆

If you can't say it with flowers Then don't say anything
@mix I 100% get where your coming from, I didn't mean to come across snarky lol, it takes a lot of work and consistency to run some mediums and with that effort comes a hefty reward, whereas some people are happy to take the science out of it and make life simple for themselves, I have a few friends that suffer mobility issues but grow their own and they would struggle to be constantly in and out each day for feeds and obviously cant build their own so the premix stuff is perfect for them. As @stootie mentioned, its like a wacky race kinda vibe hahaha. I suppose it boils down to how good a plant looks overall since its the same plant regardless of medium if you know what I mean, best way I would describe it would be like a manual vs automatic gearbox in a car, manuals are more labour intensive but more rewarding if you drive it right, autos will take the guesswork out of it and you can focus on the road with less driver input.... full disclosure I'm high as shit right now so in my head that made sense haha 🤣

I’ll answer yes, it is completely fair to include all grow styles. In my time here at Percy’s I have seen lots of soil growers fight with pest problems and hydro growers with significantly less pest issues because of the media. In all forms of hydro you must balance your nutrients, in soil you have to keep ahead of your plants needs. Different media makes different challenges. Over the years POTM has been won by both styles of grow, soil and hydro, in almost equal measure. I think the grower is just as important, probably more important, than the type of media and nutrients you use.

@monkeydo 100% with ya. There are award winning plants here from every medium. Each one isn't based on medium but growing technique and skill. That be like saying peoples with big lights will have big plants. Not if you don't know how to use them. I would have little puffs of smoke, for a second. 😋
