Hello All
After the last electric bill I am looking to downsize my grow from 3’x3’x7’ to my OG tent 2’x2’x5’. The idea is to place the small tent inside the big tent and grow one smaller plant. Was thinking I could condition the air in the large tent heat/dehumidify so just lights, fans and plant in small tent maximising space.
So is it possible to push the air through the carbon filter instead of pulling? Thinking that I could then just run ducting from port on small tent to exhaust.
Any help or ideas appreciated, just to add I will be insulting internally with sheets of blue insulation.
TIA
One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

@spambot I'm wondering if it would work better if you have fresh air arriving via a lower port in the big tent directly to a lower port in the small tent via a length of 4" ducting or pipe. You can then leave one of the small tents other ports open (I'm thinking another lower one if there is one), so air can be drawn out into the big tent, with the carbon filter still sucking.
So airflow would be entering big tent via 4" ducting then into small tent via lower port, then out of small tent via open lower port, into big tent, then out via the carbon filter.
Not sure this makes sense other than in my tiny brain !! 😀

@toploader took a couple of reads for my brain to catch up but that makes good sense. I could put the filter just external of the small tent extraction port at lower level. I doubt I’d have much in the way of negative pressure on small tent but can see why that would be an issue. May be a case of trial and error but appreciate your advise mate.

@spambot you would be better off using the smaller tent as a lung tent if you want to condition the air, you can in theory do what you want to do but you may find restrictions in airflow. I would swap the carbon filter around and run it in reverse drawing the air through the filter rather than blowing it out the filter, the biggest issue I can see is that the carbon filter will blow mini dust particles all over the place. I'm sure someone has done it, essentially your creating a small room that your tent resides in. Other than the issues above I don't see a huge problem tbh.

@bubblehok cheers bud. I think I’ll set up and experiment a little before starting a grow again. Don’t want to be faffing about while growing. Bit of trial n error of course but if I can get this right I’ll be a happy camper.

@spambot I think its probably one of the best things with this hobby is that there is no real one way to do it, as long as you provide the basics it will get the job done. Will be interesting to see what you come up with, I have seen people doing similar but that was to separate 2 grows and create 2 separate enviroents to control humidity. No reason why you can't get it all to work but sounds like some tinkering will be required. Good luck and keep us posted bro.

if you keep all other ports of the big tent closed, it will have to draw air through the small tent via the 4" ducting. As you say mate it's all gonna be down to experiment 👍@toploader took a couple of reads for my brain to catch up but that makes good sense. To your first question, yes you can push air through a carbon filter instead of pulling it through. I do this on all my tents to conserve space. The only negative I see is you have to either run no pre filter or get innovative.
