Hi, I wanted to share some pictures of my Dutch Passion Durban Poison grow and ask some advise.
This is my first photo period grow. I am using two TGL-100 Cob LED lights, in a 2x4 tent, growing in coco/perlite mix, and fertigate about five times a day with my homemade automatic watering system using GHE flora series nutrients. I pretty much followed the methods of Dr MJ Coco of Cocoforcannabis when It came to preparing the coco and his way of stepping up the strength of the nutrients during the seedling stage, and so on.
I germinated on the 4th of June, (it was a happy day) just putting a seed in a moist Jiffy Pellet.
After it popped I placed the jiffy in a small nursery bag filled with coco/perlite.
On the 10th It looked like this.
On the 19th of June I transplanted into a 1 gal smart pot.
On the 27th I transplanted into a 3 gal Airpot, and on the 28th I topped it.
Then during following weeks I proceeded creating my first mainline. I think next time I will super crop the two main stems, to lower the risk of a split in the middle.
I had only been hand watered twice a day, but now I put together a kind of “watering ring” using plastic hose and some 90° mini sprayers (It works kinda ok) and started tuning in the automatic fertigation system.
On the 13th of July I went from 18/6 lighting to 12/12.
After that and as the plant started to stretch I put up a scrog net and started to tie things down. This was my first time using a scrog, and I think it was of great help.
After a week of stretching I put up another scrog higher up.
The speed of growth of these plants are really quite amazing.
Tie down one day..
And the plants “recover” the next day
Here is how it looked on the 13th of August. Lots and lots of leaves.
To mitigate rising humidity and heat (heat generated by my dehumidifier) I took to the scissors, and did some strategic defoliation. The heat might have been a bigger problem than I thought at the time.
I had been feeding nutrients at EC 1.0, but noticed that the leaves where pretty dark and the tips got burned so I lowered EC to about 0.8.
The following two picture was taken on the 27th of August.
Here is one from the September 2nd
I noticed pistils started turning red at around the 27th of August. Probably started earlier than that though.
Tricomes are.. well not easy to judge. Mostly clear I would say, but some milky and some amber and a few very dark.
My plan is to do a flush with florakleen and switch nutrients to GHE Ripen for the last 10 days or so (as per the instructions from GHE)
Thing is.. I am not sure about how long I have left before its time to to that switch?
Of course it is a matter of personal taste when it comes to how much amber one might like and so on, but as this is my first photo period plant I wouldn't mind some input from more experienced growers
EDIT: Just as I was finishing this text I decided to cut a few samples of three different buds and try to take some pictures close up of the trichomes with my (cheap) usb microscope and I found what looks like bananas?
I have been struggling with fairly high temperature, when lights on measuring about 27-29 degrees in the middle of the canopy. During the dark period the temperature is around 22-25. Humidity 49%-60% thru both night and day.
Please take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think, and if it will be a problem for me? I only have this plant so I am not afraid of spreading pollen to other plants, but what about self pollination?
I think these are ready enough for harvest mate. Great post BTW!
Can you get a pic of the trichomes on the buds rather than the calyxes though? Thats a better place to get a good idea of maturity

Thanks!
Sorry I don't quite understand , what do you mean "..on the bud rather than the calexes?" , I thought the calyxes WAS the bud, sort of? Or rather that the bud was flower 😛 , (English is however not my native language
Edit: To clarify, the samples are taken from the calyxes of three different flowers.

Thank you! I definitely fell in love with Main-lining, that is a quite effective and aesthetically pleasing way of training.

At least, I think 😛 I managed to take the samples from the calyxes, rather than from sugerleafs.
I took another larger sample and took some more photos, however it's difficult to get good images.
Overview of the sample taken, front and back:
Then some closeup images:
The trichomes look clear and remind me of a mushroom, you want 60-70% of them to start to lean over and turn light brown to get more of a knock out stone, when there clear its not going to be very strong at all,
even for a good high, you need to see 40 -50% turning brown.
Even going on the pistils, you want to see 70% of them going red/brown because most the weight is put on in the last 2-3 weeks in flower.
I thought the calyxes WAS the bud
Yes mate, sort of 😉 The calyx you have taken is what grow under the main buds, try getting a shot of the trichomes on top of the buds, the bit thats closest to the light
Your English is fine too, dont worry about it.
Do you have any idea what caused the Hermie? I Think you might be a bit too late now mate and you will already have seedy buds....If they aint finished yet, then I would let them finish and try to remove as many nanas as possible 🙁
Unlucky mate, the mission is to find the cause of the hermie to make sure it doesnt happen next time, most likely a light leak

@macky Thanks for the reply. The samples are taken pretty close from the top of the bud. Do you think the herm is more likely due to a light leak or to heat stress?
