Hi guys i know youve already explained some bits to me n ive read the guides on it. But today ive added more of the feed a n b n the calmag by 0.1ml. Obviously the reading has gone up to 438 and im wondering if thats too high. My girls are in week 2 since germinating
Im wondering whats too high n wats not. I dnt want to burn them
@shirley-boi I have one of those ec pens and just a word of warning. Learn how to calibrate it and get yourself some calibration solution to test it weekly. It caused me a big headache in my first grow.
If it didn’t come with calibration instructions then try YouTube and search Vivosun ec pen calibration. Good luck!
@woolieback ive just fed them now n its gone in at 450 and the run off was
Wedding cake: 254
Pheonix big yield was 256.
So whats happening there please. I really dont understand this ec levels. Im having a hard time understanding this side of things 🙈🙈🙈
@shirley-boi EC is like a feeding guide, which is why you coco peeps need to know it 🙂
Feed in at 450, out at less, means plants are using the nutrients...in your case 200 ish...this is approximately how much your plants are feeding...for optimal growth you want to feed what they want so in this case EC at 270 ish
<disclaimer>I am not a coco grower 😆
@wooliebacki only added an extra 0.1ml of a n b.. so altogether i put 0.2ml of a n b and then 0.4ml of calmag as the wedding cake leaves started to go deformed look il add a pic
If you are constantly changing your feed your plants won’t ever find their happy place. Using EC as a guide to feed requires a gentle touch and a steady course, a lot like sailing. If you are constantly changing the course you lose momentum, the plants have to make chemical changes in the roots every time the EC is changed so same principle, lost energy. Right now the plants need very little and giving them too much too fast will hurt the end result. TBH, at this phase of growth I don’t even check my runoff unless something looks odd. From experience I know what strength to mix my starting nutrients, about 20-25% of recommendation on the label for seedling. When there are 4 nodes I start paying attention to the runoff to adjust feed. At that point I think the plant is stable enough for me to hit the gas and push. Once you have a solid root zone she will really fly so roots should be your priority right now.
I agree with Woolie, follow ZN’s numbers, 270 above baseline or there about is a decent point for seedling that size. Don’t worry about runoff right now, the plant is too small to show you what she wants. You might track the EC to get comfortable with the way EC works but the numbers won’t mean much till you stabilize her and feeding different every time won’t let her get happy. What’s the humidity level in the tent right now!

@monkeydo thanks man. Yea ive not even put 20 percent the dose on bottle cos lat tim i went for 30 percent it burnt them so ive just put 0.1 of a ml in for the first 2 weeks n now i put it up by another 0.1ml. They seem to be doing ok today. Ive raised the light a tiny bit too cos the leaves looked a bit wonky n dry
