Hey Guys, I couldn't find another thread addressing this subject so I'm gonna plop it here....lol
My girls threw me a fake move and now I'm left scratching my head as to feed or not feed. three weeks ago I picked up a bluetooth "microscope" which does a superior job at its intended purpose. However upon my initial inspection the girls had already gone 99% milky and felt as if I may be days away from harvest. I've studied the pros and cons of flushing in soil and while there are strong proponents of both methods, flushing makes good common sense to me so I proceeded to apply ph balanced water without nutes. This grow will be coming upon 3 months soon and buds show zero interest in going amber in the least. perhaps I am too attached, but its going against every struggle I have faced up to this point to just let them starve so I gave them some fox farms Tiger Bloom as well as a dose of Cal-Mag. My question may be answered by a simple "when the go amber" however I feel like there must be some indicator that signal its time to flush. any input is appreciated, and sincere apologies if this thread belongs somewhere else.

@homegrownhog The plant will start to show signs of it dying towards the end of its life cycle. The leaves will go yellow and it will stop drinking so much, you can do a weeks flush then if yu like. But being in Fox Farm Soil, which is organic I think... there really is no need to flush IMO, but of course that's down to you.
Some strain take ages to start turning amber, as long as everything is milky, its good to flush. Auto especially take ages to turn amber, so try and judge it by what the breeder states as the flowering period. Add to weeks to whatever they say though 😉 always good to push it a little further then what they recommend IMO

Thanks Macky, the girls are auto's. Both are showing signs of the throws of death among the fan leaves but it seems the colas are adding more bulk almost daily. they had a VERY rough time as seedlings as a result of my ignorance as a new grower but more particularly the Acapulco Gold is covered in nice thick buds although it never attained much more than 14 inches in height.
I’m going through something similar now also. Auto flower that by times should have been done weeks ago. It still had mostly clear trichomes, so I let it go. Most leaves are yellow, there are still some green. In the time that has passed the colas have all added a ton of bulk, to the point where I have had to support the main cola so it wouldn’t break. I’m finally seeing an amber trichome and more cloudy, so it may be getting close. What did you end up doing to yours? Did you chop it already?
@monkeydo Hi! I'm new here, also fairly new to growing within the past year or so. Listen to you guys podcast all the time and enjoy it very much, along with the wealth of information I have learned. Appreciate all you guys are doing!
@cannanp looks close tbf mate, have you checked the trichomes?

@cannanp they are looking good man but as Macky mentioned, a trichome check is the most accurate way to determine ripeness. You will need a jewelers loupe or digital microscope to take a closer look. Here’s an article that tells everything you need to know.
