High All, I am looking for your imput and recommendations on differnt glasses for eye protection from LED grow lights. My eyes are sensitive to the bright light and take forever to re adjust. I have been wearing my normal sun glasses and they are very dark tinted, even hard to see out of at times. I am Looking to purchase a decent pair I can see out of better under the Grow light. Also not spend a lot on something I don't need at the same time. What do you all think? What do you wear? Thanks.

@terppopotamus You can get glasses specifically for this from HLG mate. I just dont use them though. I forget where I put them n shit, its easier to just wear a cap for me. Just dont look directly at the light 😉

@macky Don't look into the light! I have found wearing a cap helps. Man I'm sure my eyes are just probably more sensitive than most peoples that light screaming off the reflective tent is almost an instant headache. Not cool man. I'm unsure if any of these glasses they have out will actually help with that or not.

Cap works well and dimming the lights, my eyes are already shot from years of looking into lasers, which is like an accelerated version of looking into LEDs daily, Damage wont happen in 1 instant (in most cases) but will happen.

FYI your eyes are not sensative to the light, they are working as intended and shutting down a lot of the surface area to protect themselves.

@donkeycongo so do you think any of these expensive glasses are worth the cost? Do you use any specialized lenses?

there are different glasses for different types of frequencies, I would recommend to anyone a couple hundreds on protecting your eyes is worth it. You can work safely with a cap and diming the lights, the reflective sides on the tent is the reason you dim, the actual light is the reason you where a cap.

mars or one of the companies will have a pair that is suited for grow lights.

Sunglasses offer around the same protection as they do staring directly at the sun 0, but may trick you to think they help when you take them off and your eyes have less adjusting back to normal to do.

Brightness 1 type of damage, frequency of the light the main type of damage.

@donkeycongo Definitely worth every penny to protect your vision. I am more curious if anyone has any notable differences between some of the cheaper options vs the more expensive options. I will be looking into this more, my eye sight has already waned enough over the years, and continues to do so. I do not need any help from the new bright LEDs speeding up that process for me at all. Protect your blinkers people.

removed link 100 bucks AUD - Worth it - with side protection

  • Provides protection against the 190-1200nm light produced by IPL and BBL Machines - sounds legit and these guys have a number to call

These would look good sitting on my work bench while I am in the tents

If sunglasses are too dark maybe something like a shooters glasses might work. You can find cheap options at a home improvement store in safety glass section. Other tints might also be available. Like Macky, I don't use them with the white grow lights but I did use them with the old blurple lights as those things gave me bad headaches.
