Hi mate and fellow hobbyist

Welcome to percys.  I would like to discuss all things cannabis , growing and anything else of interest if you like.

I'm not new to growing but have never been on a forum before and my tech skills are somewhat lacking .

I came to percys from listening to the podcast

I started growing cannabis in the mid eighties and stopped in the late 90s due to career wife kids etc

I started growing again 2010 ish . No one knows about my secert hobby , and my wife's eyes glaze over when I start talking about my grows lol

So I joined percys and found everybody to be helpful and friendly 

I'm about to start my 2023 diary and your thoughts would be very welcome

So let's start , what are your plans and aims ?

I dunno where the grows is however rem heat melts snow some have got caught out coz there house is the only one without snow on the roof.

still it’s got a concrete floor so I dout it’s in the loft 

that’s not the light your planing on using is it 

the floor will need sorting obviously it’s half done just weed needs a clean environment.

It looks like it might get pretty humid something you may want to factor in. 
 
honestly if it was me I’d take down the Mylar & get a tent as I’d be worried about hot spots still if that’s what you have & a willingness to get something sorted to grow in I guess you will make it work till your ready to upgrade.

Looks like a good size space you have available. Is there any reason you decided to go the Mylar route instead of a grow tent. A tent is purposely built and would make the rest of your build go much easier and faster imo. It would also help you control the smell easier when the plants are in flower.

@soiledseed, not knowing grow space size, light type & size, controlling environmentals and exhausting should be a consideration. A tent within the room, or if you DIY- a room within a room, might help keep operating cost down. If you can manage grow space temp with ventilation and insulation, then you won’t have to consider running a heat source during the cold season. 

If you’re running with what you have for now, @Mix mentioned the floors, at very least, elevate your pots so they are not directly on the concrete floor. However, if you’re running DWC or RDWC, a cold concrete floor could help keep rez temps down. 

Just another thing I thought of while reading the replies was you have to keep the space clean sounds like a whatever however if you don’t bugs & fungi will move in. As monkey says a tent makes a big difference compared to Mylar 

tbh I thought you was on a budget if you can or do have the money for a tent get it now your yield’s  will be way better & it will save you a lotta heartache.

making your own outa not much will give you something however it won’t be much compared to putting a few quid into a tent & light 

I was trying not to be Critical as that is not what I’m about however  light you have now you’d be lucky to get anything from

@soiledseed Good Luck with your Grow. I used a home made Mylar tent for the first year i was growing inside.
