Questions [Completed] White floor

Honestly, if you can swing it, maybe it's time to pony up and buy a new tent. You can find lots of sizes for $200 or less.  

I know, $200 is a big nut sometimes,  but you will be rewarded with lots and lots of nice weed.

I must of worded that wrong the tents not that knackered i only put it up a mth ago.

It was given by a friend so it is old however not used much bar the bottom not being the best its a nice tent, no leaks or anything to make it worth replacing.

I’m very much a but the best you can person & was going to buy one however after he showed it to me & the fact it cots way more than £200 as it’s 7.5 x 3.5 more in the region of £600 albeit I would have brought something in that region had the zips gone ect & was way more than happy to buy a newer one & would never accepted a old “ home growers old tent  that maybe full of bugs “ however the tent had sat doing nothing for years hence the bottom fabric not being the best.  Let’s just say the guy uses a lot of tents & it was in good condition 😉😋

I was more interested about colour reflections effect on heat.

ie would a white/black bottom have a impact on heat

@mix theoretically I believe a white surface reflects more heat, though whether this is significant or measurable in a grow tent scenario I'm not so sure mate. 

More likely to reflect more light I'd say.

I’m with @toploader on this. The black floor cannot generate anymore heat, just absorb what is already there. White would reflect more, both the visible and invisible spectrum. A black floor would absorb more light any any infrared radiation. If you are not working with metal halide or hps, then I personally would not be worried about heat and the black floor. One thing you might consider is looking for a reflective floor mat, even if it is just a camping tarp that is silvered on one side, to increase light reflection. When plants are small, it could help with the overall ambient light level and penetration. Hope that helps!

The white floor would be better than Black, and should not increase heat the way black would.

Vivosun does offer new floor trays. the 4x8  runs around 25 usd if you are interested.

I wasn’t sure if I should chime in but I’ll add my 2 cents worth. While the black or white floor might slightly change the floor temp, it shouldn’t lower the overall temperature of the tent. Once heat is pumped into the tent, that energy has to do something so if is reflected by the floor, it will eventually reside in something, like the walls, pots, plants, and everything else in the tent. The basics of thermodynamics tell us you cannot destroy energy but it can be transferred or changed in some way so a different floor color might change the way the tent manages heat but it shouldn’t decrease the overall temperature under normal conditions. At least that’s what the science suggests.

Harbor freight carries tarps for low $ and they come in different colors black , silver, and I’ve seen some white . Maybe velcro that to existing hit bottom for a easy fix .

the two sided plastic is sound it’s not cheep stuff albeit it didn’t cost me as the ex local hydro guy gave me the rest of the roll when he fixed something a while back.

It’s makes a sound floor buying anything to replace it would be a waste of time let alone money

sparky it’s white it will reflect as good as silver does maybe even better that I don’t know I must admit however it don’t matter either way it’s doing the job, hope you had grand new year bud.
