Organic Outdoor Questions

Hi everyone, I have a few questions regarding my next grow.

I will be growing all photo feminised seeds. It will be a mostly outdoor grow, I am located in The Netherlands.

2x Jack Herrer. Unkown breeder. Free seeds, 'House' Wietzaadjes brand.

1x SnowBud. Dutch Passion.

1x Hindu Kush. Sensi Seeds.

1x Power Plant. Dutch Passion.

So currently the plan is to germinate them in Februrary indoors under lights. Then to transplant in mid April into 40L Fabric pots outdoors.

I'm looking for advice on a few things.

Firstly soil, I would like to make a basic organic soil. I am planning on using CannaTerra/ Biocanna Terra as a base soil. Is there much of an advantage to the Biocanna? Would it require less bonemeal/ bloodmeal/ guano/ wormcastings? Is it worth paying extra for Organic ammendments?

Secondly Mycorhizal fungi. Can anyone advise on which brand of mycorhizals is the best value? Preferably one that is available in Europe.

Thirdly training. I want to create an even canopy as much as possible. What is the easiest way of doing this in an outdoor grow? It seems like supercropping might be the best option, but I am unsure if I should use a SCROG.

Any help is very appreciated!

On outdoor grows you really don’t need to train plants like you do indoors. The sunlight penetrates the canopy far better than grow lights do. Open the plant up and control the height as needed, top it if you want to but no need for much else

Empathy RHS 360g Rootgrow...£10 from Amazon/Feebay etc...

Mycorhizal is the same product wherever you get it IMO...this stuff is Royal Horticultural Society...good enough for them, good enough for me...

I usually use Great White but its expensive compared to this, aimed specifically at Canna growers, lol

Hi Connie, sounds like you’ve got a very good plan together 👏

Good advice above 👍

As far I understand the myccorhizal fungi  that has associates with cannabis is Glomus intraradices, also named Rhizophagus intraradices according to Geoff Lowenfells (soil science guy from US).
The two brands I know of that are only these type of mycorrhizal are Dynamyco and Xtreme. Both expensive but go a long way if used when plants are seedlings.

other product tend to contain a mixture of mycorrhizal some of which may or may not be beneficial ..check it has the one stated above otherwise may not be doing anything!

He also states plants need to live at least 3 months to benefit fully from being innoculated, which in your case suggests it is worth it.

I’ve had good success with and without using it so I guess I’m still figuring out how to get the best use out of it. If organic it does seem to be a big part of the soil puzzle so I’m sticking with it ..

With regards to putting your plants out April.. keep an eye on them and maybe prepare some fleece or something to protect in case of late frosts which could be til mid-late May.

As mentioned already plants outdoors don’t need to have an even canopy.. they will still need support of buds get big so a flower stand support / grid screen to help train and support can be useful. You can just use canes and ties to ensure good sun exposure / minimal shading by other buds/ plants.

Nice range of strains chosen! I’m sure you’ll really enjoy them and your grow! Good luck

Time to pop some more beans 😗

Thanks for the help guys!

The reason I want a canopy is because I have a 1.5m fence that blocks some of the direct sunlight, my thinking was to get the canopy as high as the fence to maximise sunlight.
