hi there - for some reason that I’ve yet to figure out, my soil mix ended up being very alkaline - I’ve been successfully compensating by using “slightly” acidic water to achieve a runoff that is around 6.6 but Some are still showing signs of what I think is an iron deficiency.

is it possible to sow some sulfer into the top layer of soil to slowly lower the soil ph?

thanks

Sulfur is your friend in this situation. Just keep in mind that it will take time, and you need to incrementally add your sulfur in smaller amounts, then take a soil test a couple of weeks later, then repeat, until you reach your desired pH.  If you are not careful, you will get big pH swings back and forth (due to the buffering action of the soil) which is not good for the plants or micro-organisms.  It will take some time, but your future grows will thank you for it.

Or ditch the bag and get something like allmix depends which is cheeper

tbh why fart about with it for a while when you could fix the problem by transplanting into better soil.

If it’s your own soil You can always throw the soil in the compost heap if you have one & try adding stuff that lowers it a bit

really all depends on what you prefer
