I have a ouple of autoflowering seedlings, germinated in the paper towel method and have now been in potting compost for approx 5 days after breaking soil, currently only using daylight and CFL bulb with 12/12 darkness and measuring approx 7cm high.

Really need some advice on when to transplant into bigger pots, when to put in the tent, with its LED light on and how high from the plants it should be?

I've attached some pics, sorry for the quality! Had some drama with burning my last babies so trying harder this time!

I'm by no means an expert but I'm 11 days into my latest auto grow, I put mine in 9l auto pots and under my Marshydro TS2000W (on 30% power) when they were about 4cm tall. You don't want them stretching too much as it'll lead to them being a bit lanky and weak. Get a fan on them gently blowing them to strengthen them up too.

Don't take my advice on it's own though, wait for someone more experienced as I'm still making it up as I go!

Good luck buddy!

@wizwaz They look like theyre stretching a bit much, what sort of height do you have your light at? it would probably need to be a bit closer to the plants.  When you say 12/12 do you mean your giving them 12 hours of darkness now too? Iv only grown one auto so far but I had the light on 20 hours a day from start to finish 🙂

@stootie Hi, Standard domestic lighting, this is why I'm concerned about putting them under the tent light, think it'll kill them!

Start with the led light at about 24 inches (60 cm) above the plant. If they continue to stretch, then lower the light a few inches a day till they are happy and stop stretching. All led's are a little different but that's a good starting point. If you're using CFL bulbs the plants need to be only a couple of inches away at most. I go about one inch up for cfl. CFL bulbs are very weak in comparison to LED lights and need to be very close to your plants.

Really need some advice on when to transplant into bigger pots

Keep an eye on the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot, when you see roots coming out it's time. If these were photos instead of autos when you see the roots coming from the bottom you could actually pop the root ball out with plant and have a look at it and put it back in if not ready, but in the case of autos this could still be done but they are more sensitive than photos and not recommended. Some growers plant directly into final container to avoid transplant shock with autos as it can stunt their growth. When you do transplant burying the plant deeper can help with leggy stretched out seedlings. Happy Growing!
