Can anyone give some advice/knowledge on how to properly dial in my grown tent environment?

I’m about 4 weeks into veg on my first photo run and just want to make sure I’ve covered all bases and environment (stupidly) is the last one.

I’m in a 4x2 tent, running an LED with a 4” ac infinity inline fan and two clip on fans to push air around

I got one bottom vent open and all the rest closed.

humidity about 60% and temps around 20-23 lights on but dipping down by about 5 degrees when lights off.

Never grown photos before so is it good to have a vent open or is that considered a light leak? Also I know my temps are a bit on the low side, if I run my extraction fan on a lower speed to maintain warmer temps is that ok? I’ve got it on speed 5 at the moment so tent maintains a bit of negative pressure, lower speeds than that and I lose the negative pressure.

I know you probably don’t have to be that detailed as these plants grow in pretty much whatever conditions I’ve thrown at them but would just like to expand my knowledge on grow environments!

thanks all.

@greentomato hello friend

so your temps are ok with light on though a bit warmer would be ideal..

Several possibilities to raise lights off temps.. trial and error with these should help

1. run your light longer and shorten the dark period until you flower

2. turn down extraction a little, or set a timer turn extraction off to let heat build then back on.. if you lose negative pressure this only affects smell escaping or not being filtered properly which could be less important during veg when they don’t smell as much

3. add an oil radiator with thermostat so when temps dip it comes on then goes off once warm again (when lights back on)

3. Is the simplest solution I think.

Also as ambient temps warm as we go into spring and summer you should find those cold times with light off are not cold any more !

hope this helps a bit

btw you will need a vent open if your 4” fan is pulling air out unless you have an input fan too ..

if you close the vent the negative pressure will increase but may be too much for the tent

hope this makes sense !

Time to pop some more beans 😗

If your at 20-23 already you shouldn’t need much heat. I added a little 45w tube heater to help temps low down in the tent and was pleasantly surprised the difference it made. Something like that might do, and would keep lights off temps up also.

@greentomato just wondered, where is your tent located ?

Mine for example is in a garage. Temps here can still get down to zero at times, so heaters are essential. My extraction will easily suck the heat out of my tent, so is now on a timer. Currently I'm set for 15 mins every 2 hours, however this will become more frequent as the plants grow.

Time to grow old disgracefully.

I find putting containers of clay pebbles with water in them around the tent helps me with raising the humidity ,I just add more containers till I reach my desired humidity or I must my tent walls

pick it,pack it fire it up, hits from the Gong
