Hi guys,

i have 3 ladies outdoors in organic soil. I am using Biotabs and some KNF inputs I made.

I am asking your help because after 10 days of holidays my ladies look quite bad.

specially my Pineapple Express that was amazing before.

After coming back I saw lot of yellowing leaves and one branch was destroyed. The biggest problem is that where the bottom of that stem and the main stem join it is brown on quite a big area.

what should I do to save it? If I cut that part, I would lose the half of the plant…

@kukuriq Hmmm, it doesnt look great does it, but it may have recovered now. Looks lie some kind of mould setting in, but im not too sure. I think someone else will be able to help though, lets get another opinion on it Smile

@macky thank you for your answer. On growdiaries I got a much worst one: that it’s fusarium . It is kind of deadly…I am checking the internet for possible treatments: water with ozone and horsetail “tea” are the only suggestions (without many proofs ) but mostly prevention.

If it is really fusarium I might have to get rid of all the three ladies plus the soil. Cry

One more trace to this investigation:

cutting off the most affected branch I didn’t find that brown layering in the tissues but the stem was hollow and I didn’t have to search for long until I found some caterpillars.

Can they cause a similar discolouration of the branches? Or fusarium and the caterpillars might have been present at the same time , were they just two layers of destiny’s disaster cake? Hmmm…

@kukuriq I would say the caterpillars are most likely the cause then mate. They got inside, ate some of the branch and weakened it. Have you taken off the whole branch now?

@macky yes I have taken it off, but I would gladly go on with this loss and not to have to deal with Fusarium.
Unfortunately I am still not sure about it…of course I want to believe in the caterpillar scenario, and that I can still save something from my crop.

Some updates on this issue:

More branches of pineapple express wilted and it has been cut.

also on LA Vanilla Cake i cut one branch that was grey inside, but in the last two weeks no further wilt has happened. So I am a bit lost whether I should cut this one as well or not. How to make sure that the pathogen is fusarium?

i wouldn’t take the risk of smoking the buds of an infected plant …it might have mycotoxins that can’t be destroyed. Not even with heat…

so far only Brooklyn Mango hasn’t shown signs of being infected by some fungal shit.

@kukuriq Damn bro, sorry to see its getting worse 🙁 I haven't seen this issue before so wouldn't know how to deal with it. But it seems to be spreading. And as you say, you don't want to smoke any potentially infected buds. Just keep a close eye on things and get rid of anything you think could be infected. That all I can advise really, maybe someone else can have more insight on this?

What’s your weather been like?

Stem rot can also be caused by advanced stages of root rot. One cause of stem rot is overwatering, which is also a root cause (no pun intended) for root rot!

There is no root rot here, i digged her out and the rootball was huge and of normal colour. But there were many hollow stems with greyish discolourations.

I am just digesting the idea that I’ll have to cut the remaining two plants as well…
