Asking that question on a grow site is always going to get different answers. I’m a coco grower and I love it for the high yields. There is a learning curve to coco but if you run a diary here we can guide you through the process. The easiest grow method is probably organic Supersoil. With that you only use ph adjusted water all the way to the harvest but yields might not be as high as coco, especially for new growers. It will be interesting to see what recommendations you get in this thread.

Hey man and welcome to Percy's. Like Monkey says you'll get a different answer to that dependant on who you ask.

For me personally, I based my decision on my growing experience, which was 0 so I chose to grow in soil, not organic supersoil I should point out. Reason for this was I felt it was the medium that would limit the chances of things going wrong for me as for the 1st 4-5 weeks of the plants life I only had to worry about pH'ing my water and not adding any nutes.

I didnt go organic as I did want to get some experience of using some synthetic nutrients as my long term goal is to grow in Coco but if im honest I was abit scared off by the immediate attention I would have to give the plants with adding nutes and more frequest waterings so felt it better to go this way and then switch to coco when ive got a bit more experience.

Hope that helps in some way Thumbs Up

In the UK one of our admin is having dry good success with Sohum Living Soil. Supersoil is more of a category of soil that is all organic and full of living microbes to feed the plant and Sohum does fit that category. When growing in living soil you should use pots that are 5 gallons or more in size to be sure you have enough food for the entire run.

It's kinda like that episode of Mr. Bean where he takes the test - he has studied trigonometry but only sees the calculus test until the very end. Basically you just need to choose what is most appropriate for you, study it, and stick with it. Every method has a learning curve so, it's more of a question of what's easiest for you, than of what's easiest overall. I use a water-only supersoil I developed based on Vic High's, Subcool's and Tom Hill's mixes, but using ingredients as locally available (to me) as possible. I used to be away for 2-3 weeks at a time for my job so I needed something my gf could easily take care of, and this fit the description. And some people say 'organically' grown cannabis smokes and tastes better too. 😉

If you do go the super soil route, I'd highly recommend doing a bit of background reading if possible - start with Teaming with Microbes by Jeff Lowenfels (book), Dr. Elaine Ingham's work, & Tim Wilson's website.

That said, nothing wrong with coco + salt based daily feedings either, if it's better for your situation (i.e., no room to mix, cook, and store the soil, lack of available ingredients, etc.). Lotta great coco growers here that can point you in the right direction as well.

I'm a complete newbie myself and only just 5 weeks into my first grow and I'm growing in Coco/Perlite and it is going quite well so it can for you as well, it's a bit tedious at times with water run off but it's not rocket science.
