Folks i hope some of you green fingered guys and gals will know more about this shit then I do😂 my hedge is looking pretty shitty at the min, I normally drive past it so haven’t noticed it’s gone really bad, there’s holes and shit all over the new growth leaves, and with the hedge being nearly 13ft tall I’m terrified it might die on my and expose the entire front of the property, maybe yall might know something and could give me some advice on the matter that would be epic 😂 here’s a few pics to help diagnose the problemos

@green-beard id spray it with insecticide
Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.
What's the name of the plant? Have you seen any bugs?, pull some leaves off and closely inspect. It helps to find out the kind of bug so you know what spray to use, some bugs can be washed off with just simple high pressure water, some can be killed with a soapy water solution. Then there are organic sprays which I would try first, Safers comes to mind. There are also home remedies, hot peppers, garlic, neem, dish soap, etc. Many recipes out there on the WWW. If all else fails then some form of toxic chemicals should be used with caution being mindful of overspray in your yard and neighbors, big hedge like that is going to take a lot of spray. In the case of toxic pesticides/insecticide you may want to seek a professional...
GOOD LUCK

i know man I love the bees there so important, and there everywhere here I think there’s a hive up high in one of the chestnut trees out the back. I can hear it just not see it, there big ass trees
And I know there is at least 17 nests at a min in the longest hedge and at least 3 in the small one, so I don’t want to harm the nests or chicks, yea never know @macky I could get hungry trimming it down😂😂😂😂

i know it’s a laurel hedge, I think it’s the cherry laurel type, I did find a small nest underneath one but didn’t see any insects, I’ll have a look and see if I can find anything and take a few more pics, we have a landscaper coming soon to do the driveway and a patio, as soon as this lock down shit lifts. I’ll get him to have a look. I have a retired gardener and landscaper but I don’t want to draw him on me, he’s a bit of a know it all, lovely man but he’s always right even when he’s wrong 😂😂 I shall take more pics and see where to go from there

I suspect 2 culprits. The holes are most probably caterpillar damage and the twisted and contorted ones are from sucking insects like leaf miners, beetles, or something. An insecticide that covers both is in order here. What kind of plants are these GB?

Everyone posts so fast it’s hard to get ahead of this 😂, Spray with a BT product for caterpillars if you’re worried about wildlife. It only effects the caterpillars and no mammals or reptiles will be hurt but it does not last through rain.

@green-beard don’t do it Man don’t do it 🙈😂😂😂the birds will taste nasty as fuck as well, imagine the taste and the noise as u crush it down with your teeth. Regarding the hedge I have similar problems here on the hedge front,I cut the hedge first then watered it and looks better but think the insects will come back😂They always do then away again lol. It’s all just a big living breathing ecosystem that is well above my pay grade. Cut and water mate and see what happens 🙂
