Questions Pre harvest questions...

Extended darkness did nothing for me...and I tried both 24 & 48 and I water up until 24 hrs before...

with regards to extending the dark period before harvest... no science yet to show benefit but some growers do this.. i have tried and cant say extending the dark will benefit.. making it colder however definitely will and if you can make it colder and for longer there may be added benefit in terms of a stress response from the plant. In my opinion this is caused by the cold not simply adding more dark though (when its dark its colder so this may be why some growers see benefit).

Harvest in the dark period though is proven best, just before the lights would come on.. like grape farmers for the best wine making!

With regards to the watering... see how the plant is drinking first.. i find if a plant is nearly done her drinking intake has slowed up noticeably so long as the environment isn't too hot (causing faster evaporation)

The plant still needs water up until the last day to help with cannabinoid production / seed maturation. However if the plant is done then there's no point in adding more water so i will allow the pot to dry back in this case.

I didnt give them any extra darkness either, I watered them 12 hours before I chopped them, I was only going to chop them now at the wknd but just after I watered them the other night I decided it might be safer to chop them the next morning because they were gettin too heavy and drooping.

I chopped them at 6am, thats when I would normally be switching the light on but this time it was permanent lights out for the ladys instead 😉

Does anyone dim the light back the week before harvest to emulate change of season?

@moglo yes, if the entire tent is finishing the last couple weeks are done with about 60-70% illumination. My harvest are good but I have nothing to compare them to.

@monkeydo Ah thats something I didnt know about, is that just turning your light to 3/4ish power for the last week instead of having it at 100% power? 🙂

Got me thinking now mate, as they're autos I'm now wondering if it's worth moving them to 12hrs as well as a light intensity reduction.
