I’m thinking of harvesting this at the weekend I know this might be a bit too soon but I’m in desperate need of the space for another plant and I’ve been growing this bloody thing for about 5 months🙈🙈🙈.  I don’t mind compromising this plant a bit but I don’t want it too be unsmokable either 😂😂. am I stupid too harvest now, will it be half decent with this being my first run I haven’t a clue. I was just wondering what you guys think.

Harvesting too early might give you a paranoia risk. Most of your Trichomes look cloudy enough I think you should be fine to harvest this weekend.  Are you planning on doing any last day rituals?

@turbotitch, It looks a bit too early to me. The last photo shows new white bright hairs, and the red ones aren't sucked in, dry and crinkly. I check trichomes top, middle, and bottom of the plant. Look at the (trichomes) bud/flower not the sugar leaves.  GreenBee  is right about the paranoia too. You've got a lot of time in this plant. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the response guys. The paranoia effect is my biggest worry because I don’t want that at all. I was thinking most trichomes looked cloud that is too my untrained eye lols. This being my first plant I don’t have any rituals, do you?

There still a few white hairs with that  seem to be turning orange with each day that passes. I’m going to give it another check in a day or 2 and I’ll make sure I’m checking the whole plant as you mentioned, I’ll upload a few pics to get your thoughts.

im still unsure what too do ultimately I’m going to have to sacrifice one of these plants.

I either let this one go a lil longer and run the risk of burning the younger plant that just gone into flower.

or

I crop this a tad early and compromise the quality a bit and let the younger one that’s going into flower reach it full potential.

atm I’m leaning towards cropping early as I not done a great job with this one and I’ve put a lot of effort into trying to get the best out of the second plant. I hope that all makes sense (I’m not the best at putting things into words).

thanks again for the advice and I’ll keep you posted

Hi mate, it’s a conundrum we’ve all been there.. you need the space, the plant ideally needs another week or two.. personally if trichs are cloudy you’re good to go if you don’t mind compromising the final product (but this is absolute earliest and will improve strength/ weight/ flavours if given longer)

so what to do?
1) fuck it chop her and get on with next run

2) hold back the next ones and give her as long as she needs

3) somewhere between the two

if I had nothing to smoke I’d go 1 (especially if I got something else growing and soon to be ready)

if ok for smoke I’d go 2 or 3

given it’s your first run I’d try go as close to 2 as possible... but as you say if you don’t mind then option 3 is ok

this is the reality of plants ripening for harvest.. they always want another week in the sun lol

good luck bro

@chillbert thank you for your reply. I thought this “auto” would had been done when I germinated the next one, as you know these auto’s are actually photos🙈🙈🙈🙈. I’m hoping from now on to have a nice rotation going so I don’t end up in this mess again😂😂😂. Thank you for the options it’s made it a lil easier to work out what to do. I’m good for a smoke atm all be it from the black market so I think I’m going to do is try option 3 I’ll leave it a lil longer but not let it go full term.

I’ll add some more pics over the weekend just to see what you guys think then.

I will say things seem to be changing on the daily I have more crystals, more white hairs turning orange and the buds look like they are filling out more each day and the lower leaves are dying pretty quickly is this normal?
one thing I will add is I’ve dimmed the light too 75% because again it’s a bit close to the light if I turn it up too 100% will this push things along or will it just burn everything?

again thanks all for responding and offering your advice.

@turbotitch

Sounds normal like the plant is wanting to finish .. lower leaves will be sacrificed as no longer needed.. calyxes will fatten, pistels turn brown and wrinkle .. all good signs 👍

turning light down a bit is ok esp if burning is a risk

generally keep as much light as you can til the end 👍

good luck bro

So the weekend is nearly over and this is where I’m at. I turned the light up but it seem to be burning leaves so I put it back down too 75%. To my untrained eye I think I may be good to go, The trichomes seems to all have gone milky and I think there’s a couple of amber ones starting to appear. possibly thinking about harvesting this eve whilst listening to the podcast just wondering what you guys think? Thanks

@turbotitch Hi Titch, I think I saw someone on here saying its best to wait till about 5% of the trichomes have turned amber before harvesting, but I could be wrong on that. What do you use for taking pics of your trichomes, a usb microscope or something, I wish I could manage to get pics that clear but all I get is a blurry mess when I try.

Ya I think from what I’ve learnt in the forum and listening too the podcast ideally you want 5 to 10% amber but I’m in desperate need of the space so this one will have to be harvested slightly early,it’s just how early.

I used a magnifying glass that clips onto your phone it works ok but it is difficult too get good pictures because your shaking all over the place😂😂😂, I take a loads of pictures then pic the best ones too post 😂😂😂
