Here we are, mid October in Washington state. Looking for that sweet amber, but it just isn't there.
I'm worried the weather will turn any day and wreck my buds.
Any help or advice?
This is my 7th year, and I've traditionally harvested Oct 10. It's always been good, but this year I'm trying for great.
I've got this nifty little microscope doodad and I've never had this good of a look at the trichoms.
I think I've probably always harvested a little early knowin
g what I know now.
Am i risking too much or should I stay the course?
Keep pushing as far as you can bro. I dont see any amber trichomes there. Its a fine line, they all seem milky, and wouldn't be bad to harvest at anytime. But trying to get some ambers in there will change the game.
Hold out for one more week if you can! See how she is then. But if it gets to cold, or you see any mould, chop!

@budpirate hard to say. It depends on personal taste. I've heard people harvesting some parts of the plant in stages, so that you have different maturity levels. I haven't done that personally (not yet at least) but maybe that could be an idea and you reduce the risk of loosing it all to mold.
Maybe someone else has tried it and can throw in her/his 2 cents.

You need patience in this game for sure...I start my flush on 5% amber but I am indoors and not held by the weather...as Macky says, another week is always worthwhile if you can as a lot of the time, this is when buds bulk out...
Weather however is uncontrolable so be alert...
Woke up to frost this morning. It's time to chop them down. I think we are close to perfect but only 2-3% amber.
Mother Nature has made her decision.
@budpirate had the sopranos theme tune in my head after reading 😆 what I know about outdoor would go on a postage stamp , what would the frost do to the fruit ?
Sucking ⛽
@woolieback once the cells in the buds freeze, the bud can start to deteriorate and rot. Temperatures aren't quite warm enough during the day to really ensure that the frost will dry up. This also adds to the risk of rot.
I held out an extra 2 weeks this year, so it may not be great, but I am confident it will be really good.
@budpirate got you pal , really didn't have a clue many thanks 👍
