I couldn’t comment during the show, I was listening live but busy boiling maple sap!
Anyway, a couple of things to add to @Marge presentation —
1). Once you get adventurous and try your own infused recipes, do a non-infused test batch first. I recently made a candy bar recipe I’ve never tried, before committing my precious infused ingredient I made a test batch. The crust called for butter so my thought was to use the infused butter. My test batch came out like shit. It tasted good, but the crust fell apart when you tried cutting it and eating it.
2). My other comment- if you like edibles, I strongly recommend the ardent for decarbing. Our infusions are definitely stronger using the ardent due to its small oven size and the devices ability to control the temp of that smaller volume (with no hot spots and cold spots you get with your kitchen oven). Definitely worth it IMHO.
3). my 3rd comment is something @macky said- he mentioned making your own edibles is expensive for the non-grower. Mrs. Sevans doesn’t smoke, just edibles for her. Using legacy market bud she will make 1 cup of oil or 1 cup butter with 7g flower. The resulting edibles are cheaper and better quality than the stuff from the dispo. And each portion of what you make is more consistent. The Mrs. would find that her high was different from one piece of Candy to the next (from the same pack).
So if your not growing or if you don’t have any homegrown around, try it anyway, still cheaper than dispo edibles. Safe way to start, as Marge mentioned, buy store bought mixes, then after that, head to Marge’s page, she has some tried and true recipes. Her ginger snap recipe is the fucking BOMB 💣

@sevans1965 Couldn't agree more on all of this! I should test batches more often, but I'm either overly confident or not afraid to fuck up (which I do alot but I happily eat most of my mistakes!). It's a good idea to make a test batch too because if it turns out great, you have something yummy to share with the folks in your life that aren't so crazy about edibles as the rest of us!
Spot on about the Ardent! I have noted too that my decarbed weed is more potent that weed I've decarbed in the oven. Plus the reduction in smell and the ability to infuse as well, it's a great tool to have, worth the investment if you're into making edibles!
Also agree that even if you don't grow that it's more expensive...I tend to also think that it's way more expensive to buy edibles than to make them, even if you're buying weed a retail. You can buy pretty cheap ounces on the legal market now (at least in my neck of the woods) and since you're using it for edibles, you don't need anything fancy! Or you can make friends with a grower (offer to join them in trim jail in exchange for some of the trimmings!). Legacy market offers lots of inexpensive options and many of sell bags of shake now too.
Anywho, glad you like the ginger snap cookies, those remind me of my mom. She made them a lot when I was a kid and medicating them makes them even more comforting!

Yep Edibles are fun but can take a bit of messing around to get right, Thankfully we have our very own edibles extraordinaire @marge who has all the top tips. I trained as a chef for many years out of high school and love cooking in all forms, when the penny dropped that I could mix the two it was a sugary slope towards baked af from there 🤣 I haven't made a budder mix in a while and the wife was saying she felt like brownies this week so I may crack out the scales and the slow cooker and do a butter, happy wife happy life right? Still trying to nail down the consistency of these gummies, I am trying to make sour gummies atm but perfectionist me wont accept anything less than proper gummy consistency.... many a pack of jello has been wasted in this expedition but I feel I'm about 20 odd packs of jello away from nailing it 🤣

@bubblehok oh gummies are so tricky to get right! I'm always looking for that true gummie consistency too! Check out this episode I did (recipe is in the show notes!) on gummies...haven't made them in a while but I recall that they were as close to the real thing as I could get them. The recipe was shared with me by two women who are working to bring gummies to the Canadian legal market so they had tried many many versions to get it just right! Cult Gummies epsiode 
If you try them, let me know how they turn out. Very cool that you've trained in the culinary arts...I have no such distinction!

Sounds like me a while back. Eventually I got over it and was simply satisfied that the edibles did their work even if they weren’t Michelin Star worthy. If you find the perfect recipe shoot me a message but until then I’m still eating the weed “jello”. It’s just too easy to ditch the recipe.

@marge Sweet thankyou I will check out that recipe, a lot of the time its something slightly out of whack that makes a huge difference. TBF I have friends that were never trained as chefs that could put a few to shame, I hung my commercial knives up a long time ago but still love cooking. Its a good ticket to fall back on if everything goes tits up lol, people gotta eat regardless of what else is going on around them.

Lol at this point I'm being pedantic about it, Its not like I wont eat the failed gummies...because I do(sometimes to my own detriment when I eat too many).... but forever searching for that perfect gummy dusted in sour sugar 🤣 If I manage to nail it down I promise I will share.
