I can't believe Mike Barnes said that you wouldn't expect a heart doctor (cardiologist) to prescribe cannabis. I know of one such doctor that said that smoking cannabis is the only thing that is keeping his patient alive. The patient was a former neighbor of mine. He had a quadruple bypass. His entire circulatory system is operated by only one ventricle.
Only after extensive research I discovered how that was possible. As it turns out, smoking cannabis dilates the arteries. This dilation increases blood flow and relieves the heart from working so hard.
So, keep smoking everybody. Live long and keep growing.

I think he meant it more in a sense that those types of doctors tend to be a more specialised field and largely don't prescribe anything outside of their specific post op stuff. So they wouldn't have people coming in and asking for scripts to be filled like a regular GP would.
Interesting though, could be another avenue for looking at the effectiveness of cannabis treatment for cardiac patients, but I daresay theu would be more concerned about not "rocking the boat" and putting a mark on their careers for prescribing cannabis. Thos is the sad reality of the state the medical field is in across the board, lack of research due to prohibition has set the cannabis medicines field back a century at least.... imagine where we would be now if they had been able to study cannabis for the last 100 years unhindered by politics....
