I'm asthmatic and never thought I'd be able to smoke flower pretty much daily with no apparent ill-effects.I keep an eye on my lung function especially when exercising and I'm all good.I ought to leave my body to science so they can study the effects of weed on asthma...maybe use my skull as an ashtray? 
@scooterino my understanding is that it dilates the blood vessels and thereby relaxes the lungs. I'm not a medical doctor, but these effects are also what I have experienced when my severe allergies cause lung spasms in a quasi-asthmatic way.

I have Emphysema and had lung cancer..... I have no issues smoking blunts all day.
the cold wea5ther makes me cough but not smoking. it has helped clear my lungs in fact.

From what I understand, if cannabis has a tendency to dilate the vessels in the lungs, if there's anything else (contaminants, etc.) in the flower/concentrate being inhaled, that could cause constriction instead.
I believe tobacco is more of a vasoconstrictor, so smoking blunts with a mix of tobacco and cannabis can cause a lot more damage because the two effects counteract and leave the lungs more vulnerable to the toxins contained in the tobacco. I'm also not a MD, but I do have formal education in physiology and this seems to make sense.
Due to my wife being extremely sensitive to smoke and even essential oils and other stuff being diffused int he air, I have been vaping almost exclusively for several years and I can't believe the difference compared with smoking. I will never go back.
@gworton dry herb vaping is definitely where it's at for sure. The flavor and rate of consumption is so much better, too.

@im_sparky Agreed. I just tried one of those concentrate vapes a couple days ago for the first time and it’ll really get you messed up quick off just one or two short draws.
May least I can have a 5-10 minute session with my dry flower vape and not feel completely shot for the day.
I never really thought I'd get into vaping and just used to have a dropper of oil or two. However I bought a Pax3 to try and was pleasantly surprised. Then someone here put me onto the little pre-loading cassettes, Budkups, and I was away. Probably not the most powerful dry herb vape, but so discreet and convenient 👍
