This will be a longer running diary, covering my steps from seed, sex testing, raising a mum or two (hopefully), cloning, then followed by the clones growing out in my RDWC System. That’s the plan anyway.
I popped the beans about a week ago, 4 for 4 popped.

4x4 tent: Offspring: x600 Pro Photontek
Mum(s): supersoil then Biocanna if needed.

@terppopotamus hopefully my timing is not too far off, planning on the Blackberry Kush that’s currently in my 4x4 will be done in 10’ish weeks. Then a short time after that have some clones ready.
Sex test day-
getting my samples ready to send off to Farmer Freeman If you’re in a prohibition State or country and paranoid about sending a leaf sample, they have “smash cards”, you can transfer plant dna to the card, a little more stealthy.
Sterilized my scissors, took out the serialized tag that’s in the envelope , put it in the pot and took one of the first real leaves.
Don’t lick the envelope, the green sticker will keep it closed. Mail the samples tomorrow, I’ll likely have results in my email inbox by Wednesday/Thursday.
A couple of quickies about dna sex test-
1). If you missed it in my last post, you don’t have to send a piece of leaf if you're paranoid. When you order your test envelope, get the smash cards, you transfer plant dna to the card and mail it (scrape off the plant matter b4 mailing.
2). pre-order as many tests as you want, you don’t have to send them all together, send them in one by one, whenever you want. Once you pre-buy the envelopes, your only other cost is the stamp for when you mail in your test specimen.
One thing I forget to mention on the last post, there is a space to write the cultivar name on the label. Probably not the end of the world if you forget.
Sex test update- if you forget to mail the specimens, you won’t get the f-ing results !!!

@terppopotamus I still mailed the specimens, just a few days later than planned, if I don’t see results tomorrow, I’ll expect them Monday.
the specimens drying out is actually a good thing, if you include too much plant material, that can delay the test since they will have to wait for it to dry out a bit.
One other titbit for anyone looking into sex tests, directions say to take specimens b4 any folia sprays.
not the end of the world if you do, if they get a bad result, they will run it thru a different test, might cause an additional day or two delay no extra cost if they end up doing the extra test
if memory serves, I think it was about $10 per test, not too bad if you’re tight for space and don’t want to waste grow resources on potential males

@monkeydo since I’m back at work, and don’t have an army of naked angles tending my garden while watch- safe to assume I didn’t win the lottery !
Amy’s are doing well. The back two will be grown out for cuts, then clones into the hydro after the Blackberry Kush, Diary #17). Very aggressive root growth, roots starting to protrude thru the drainage holes. Time to up pot, then the other two will be headed to the 12 hour tent in about a week I’m guessing.
These two Amy’s were not selected to be potential mums. Up-potted into 3L pots this morning, now into their new home, the 12/12 tent.
Auditions are over, two mums have been selected, the two that’s didn’t make the cut are in the 12 hour tent already. The mums will hang out in my seedling/early veg area under the high output T5 for a while (my tents are both on 12 hour cycles, if these get too big too soon, I’ll have to switch my drying tent back to a temporary veg tent and rehang my array2).

Quick update- mums doing well as you can see in this YouTube clip.
I’ve also decided that this RDWC run will be sterile (no bennies).
I’ll be using Hypochlorous acid to keep my ORP in check (rather than blindly adding bleach as some sterile growers might do). Hypochlorous acid Sounds worse than it is, it’s actually produced naturally in our bodies as a disinfectant!!). Trick to growing sterile (from my research so far), is keeping ORP in an ideal range, keeping it around 350-400 mV is enough to create an environment bacteria and pathogens won’t survive, should help make root rot a forgone conclusion!
So my kit arrived, the HOCI generator and ORC test pen. Lots of justifiable reasons to get a HOCI generator (not just for growing, all the people smarter than me was buying these generators during the ban-demic when the shops were sold out of bleach etc.), it replaces all household bleach use except it won’t whiten laundry. A better and safer household disinfectant. Easy to make- water and salt! You can also make a cleaner/degreaser (KOH- potassium hydroxide using water and potassium bicarbonate).
Another big savings for me- this replaces me having to buy 30% H2O2 at $40/gal. HOIC with a ORC over 400 mV will clean my hydroton is minutes !
@sevans1965, well look at that. Very interesting. Are you able to filter rain water and use that instead of RO water? That would be a double savings.
You weren't able to use the mV setting on your Groline, to measure? Or you just didn't have one in this color? lol I know you've been saving a lot of money lately.

mV on the growlin, no not the same. I asked and they said, we really wanna sell you…….. LOL. Seriously, there is a correlation between mV & pH I believe, I don’t remember the exact explanation that was given.
Waiting for these mums to grow a little quicker ! LOL. Grow #17 has been chopped, after 10 more days of drying, time to clean and rest the tent and hydro system.

Slow progress, basement has been a tad cool the last week (upper 60’s/low 70’s). Waiting for the Nakatomi Plaza’s to catch up to the Amy’s, then take some cuts for the hydro system.

Update- had to move “the mums” to warmer accommodations. As much as I like having them in an open part of the basement, the home AC is on, it’s cool enough to slow them down.
switched my 2x2 drying tent back to a veg tent with the trusty Array2.
currently 80F/60% RH., much better (than 70F).
