New Growers Auto Blue Dream

Hi farmers - first time post here.

First time grower, I’m from Sydney where autumn day temps are mid 20c/75F and about half that during the night.
I’m now on day 15 of my grow and although the leaves look healthy and green I feel like it’s a slow start from what I’ve seen, should I be worried at this stage and/or anything I can do ? Ride it out ?

thanks in advance

Day 15 - approx 3 inches tall.

Welcome to Percy’s @arnie1991, glad you found us. Considering the temperatures you are working with the plant will grow slower. For ideal conditions lights on temps should be about 26c and lights off about 20c. Normally by 2 weeks in I’m seeing the 3rd or 4th node, yours looks to be on the 2nd node. What media is it planted in, soil or coco and what brand. Are you using any supplemental nutrients? Are you checking the ph of the water and if so what is it? More than likely she is just cold but the more information you give us the better we can help you.

Yeah I thought the night time cooler temps may be affecting growth, however with the leaves looking rather healthy I figured it must be establishing doors before it’s ready to really start growing ?

It’s planted in organic soil and the PH is 5.5.. no supps at this stage.

forgot to mention, this is an outside grow - sunrise 6am sunset 6pm currently.

@greengoblin yeah unfortunately being an auto flower I wont have the time as it’s mid autumn now.. the days are still warm and plenty of sun so looking at the overall health of the plant hoping for some good results albeit a small yield due to the slow start.

@greengoblin

From what I’ve seen/read I’ve definitely taken the hard route going outdoors.. I’ll keep you posted though with some pics over the next few weeks on here, luckily a very mild autumn thus far.

@arnie1991 growth is a little too slow for an auto. I just started 2 autos less than a week ago and they are already larger than this one. At this rate it will flower before you are ready and the yield will be awful. The stalk seems thin and spindly which in my mind is a problem. Usually low temps and bright sun would be a short stocky plant I think. Is this plant in direct sunlight?

Yeah I thought that too about the stem.. yes, it’s in direct sun from about 7am to 4pm daily.

Starting to think a shot of nutrients to get her moving might be the thing I’d try at this point. The temps are still going to fight the growth but maybe you can compensate a bit with some feed. You mentioned supplements earlier, what’s in the toolbox for this grow?

With the autoflower clock ticking I think I’d mix a weak feed solution at only 1/4 of the recommended rate and feed her once to see if it would get her moving. I’m thinking she could be having difficulty with the nutrients in the soil possibly. This sometimes happens to my outdoor flower containers when I replant with seeds and the added nutrients usually gets those seedlings past the difficult beginning if something is a bit off. Just my opinion of course, maybe someone else has a suggestion too.
