Wow! This website has so much great information!   I'm brand new here.  I started growing late last year when Canada legalized marijuana.  I have 4 strawberry cough photo-period plants in late bloom (week 8). Its my first my grow ever and the journey has been amazing so far.  I've been a cannabis enthusiast for over 15 years and its been so fun to finally grow my own.   Looking forward to my first harvest!    Thought I'd throw a quick question out there to the experts... 🙂

I'm starting week 8 of flower and I have finished my 2nd week of "Late Bloom" Nutes.  Looking through my jewelers loupe my trichomes are all still clear.  I do not want to switch to "Ripen" nutes too early as I'm aiming for cloudy trichomes with at least 15% ambering.  The breeders website says the flowering time should be  7-9 weeks.  Can I extend the "Late Bloom" nutes an extra week till I see cloudy trichomes?

I did repeat 1 week extra of mid bloom can I do the same thing on late bloom for example 3 weeks of "Late Bloom"?

Thanks in advance!

I cant seem to add a link or a picture to the feed guide Im using.  Its GH Flora coco drain-to-waste

Awesome mate, Good you came here! Those trichomes, what percentage milky and clear are they? Any "late stage bloom" Nutes, should be used for two weeks, when the trichomes are 50/ 50 milky clear.

The breeders time is only ever an estimate, and they can go 2-3 weeks over to get them to their best potential. If youre on 50/50 milky clear. feed the late bloom nuits.

Get back to me with some more info mate, what medium, whats the ed and ph of food and what nuits early are you feeding them right now 🙂

Good to have you hear mate,! Thanks for signing up! 15% amber is perfect, too, but you will have to wait a little longer than the breeder states to get it there 🙂

Hey Macky,

Thanks for the blazin' fast reply!   Heres a run down of some info

3 gal fabric pots

70/30  High quality coco/perlite

General Hydroponics Flora Series Nutes - Currently feeding 3ML per gallon of Micro and 4ML per gallon of Bloom.  On the feed guide I'm following it says to cut the Micro in half to about 1.3ML per gallon during the Ripen stage.   I'm thinking I could be 1-2 weeks off from seeing it go from clear to cloudy.  I'm not sure though because I have never grown before

The trichomes are relatively clear I think.  Its really hard to focus the macro lens on the buds to get a clear shot but it can be done with a steady hand.  I am going to take a bunch of pictures of the garden removed link   Can I post them here?  I dont see a way to post an image unless I'm missing it somewhere

any help would be appreciated

Okay so I did my best with the loupe camera photos, friggin difficult to do, for me anyways.  Here they are, I feel like I can see SOME clouding but still clear but I am still a novice so I have no idea 🙃 From what I've read the leaves will turn amber before the actual bud.  On a few of the pics I can see amber but Its on a leaf not the bud.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

First off Dave, mmmmmmmmmmm, lovely work mate, they're beautiful!

Second, when growing in coco, it's a good idea to measure the EC and PH of your feed. And also the run off, this way you can get an idea of what the plant is eating, and know whether your over feeding or not.

Judging by what I can see from the trichs ( we all have trouble with those loupes lol) rue not ready for the final phase of food.

Pk boosters, a n d, and a bit of cal mag if the a n b doesn't have it. For another week or so yet. Then we can add the final bloom foods when the trichomes are 50%milky.

Thisnwill give us around 2 weeks to get to 100% milky, with another ten to fourteen days to reach the 15% amber 🙂

plants that size will need ten days flush for the best results mate. But we ain't there yet.

Can you check the ec and ph? Do you have meters? The charts from the nutrient company are not accurate enough you see. Each strain is different, so it's good to read ec and ph for a better idea.

I see the amber trichs on the leaves, it's always the buds you check mate. The trichs on the leaves can turn for loads of reasons. Damage, heat, too much food, watch the trichomes on the buds for the best idea of maturity, 3-4 weeks and they should be done. Really gotta let that ripen mate, push it that little bit further for best results.

Thanks Macky for the insight, ill try to fill in some missing infos. I PH the water between 5.8-6.3 through out the entire grow, veg and flower, but as it has been going later into flower I've been aiming for closer to 5.8-6.0 every time.  I feed twice a day.  1.5 Liters (Quarts) per feed, 3 Liters each per day.   I have an EC/PPM meter that I don't really use yet, I was planning to use it during the flush just to make sure I got all the nutes out and the PPM reads around the same as my base water.  I guess I should read the data from it but is a damn pain in the ass.  But I should read up on how to use it more.   I dont have a PK booster, I was just planning on cutting the Nitrogen in half during the ripen stage

Would it be best to just continue the same feed amounts that I'm currently doing now for another 1-2 weeks and wait for the trichomes to turn 50% milky then switch to the ripen stage? Which for me the Ripen stage would just be  cutting the N in half from 3 ML to 1.5 ML.  Then run that for a week, then do the flush?

I realize its hard to describe lol.  Thanks alot man!

DAve

Yes mate that'll do, just cut the nitrogen, I know you're new, but you seem to be well researched on the matter, and the plants are doing great.

Ph is the most important, as long as that's right, the plant will eat right. Ppm, and TDS, are  ot easy scales to work with. Get a good ec meter for your next grow, and it'll make a difference 🙂

I only listened to one so far.  I haven't listened to much.   I basically used amazon.ca to gather all the equipment for the grow, everything except the seeds.,   It is fantastic.  I used to live in Toronto, now im out in Mississauga.  No idea why I chose the name TorontoDave lol.  Its hard to come up with a good name on the spot sometimes.  Now that I think of it I wonder If I can change it haha
