Hi all, I've been thinking about growing for a while, but didn't really know where to start. Too much info out there. I started listening to the HOHG podcast which gave me the confidence to give it a go.
I'm picking up the equipment I need. Have bought a Mars Hydro 70 x 70 x 160 tent and Mars Hydro TS 1000W LED Grow Light. I know I want to grow in Coco but a little confused about what carbon filter and extraction fan I should get for the space. I've looked at the guide but still unsure. I read somewhere that because the tent is small it may be an issue with negative pressure and to open up a vent flap at the bottom but worried about light leaks.
Also, any tips on maintaining/adjusting humidity and temperature and should that be factored in buying the fan?

Sounds like you're on the right track and you're definitely correct - lots of info out there to sift through.. in this situation, my recommendation would be a small 4" fan with the same sized carbon filter. That tent's volume is 27.5 cubic feet, and most 4" fans are rated for around 200 cubic feet/minute (ideally). Having a filter on there will reduce the suction by quite a bit, but you'll probably have to play around with some of the vent holes to ensure the negative pressure isn't too much, like you said. The vent flaps are there for that reason and should always be left open, IMO, unless you're running active intake (i.e., another fan bringing air IN). If your fan does still suck too hard, lol, you can always buy a fan controller to lower the speed.
As for the light leaks, yeah.. my suggestion is try to have it in a space where you can eliminate the light in the first place so even if the tent does leak, it won't matter. A windowless room, a dark basement, etc. Not always possible but, easiest to manage. Light leaks are only really a factor during flowering anyways. A little extra light during the dark period during vegetative growth should be fine.
