Hey guys.
Mostly into autos at present although have successfully grown photos in the past.... 3 times in total with varying success rates...... autos a handful of times & more successfully still fairly new to the game.
Growing in soil but looking to try something else this year cos the gnats are a pain in the ass.
Got 4 different strains growing all around same age ~50 days from seed, royal creamatic, green gelato and fat banana.. royal haze I think is 2 weeks behind these.. again all autos.
Anyhow, here's a picture of some clones of my autos I'm playing with varying in age from 1-2 days. Just experimenting 🤠
Looking to invest in new lighting this month, upgrading from mars hydro ts1000...
Welcome to Percys man, good to have you here. Its going to be interesting to see how those autos clones dosome clones of my autos
Want tent you growing with mate? The gnats are fixable too if you want to stay in soil, there a few things you can do. Let us know more about your grow and your setup and we can get you on the right track.

Welcome to Percy’s mate.

we hear this a lot but if you love soil and want to stay with it, there are a few things you can do to control the gnats that take very little time and effort. The only media that would be gnat free is DWC and that’s a whole different game. Start up a diary with your grow and the community will help you control the gnats once and for all.

@macky thanks for warm welcome macky.
Re: tent. nothing at present. just some plants in my cupboards as I need to cat proof the room first (lost my first tent cos the cat made a lot of holes, albeit this was before I discovered autos) - i'm looking at <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gorilla Box Tent - 240 x 120 x 200cm or <a href=" removed link ">Bud Box Lite Tent Silver - 240 x 120 x 200- or at least, same dimensions, as I like to have a few plants at same time...
& yeah. I like soil it's just I've came across some issues with feeding (I use biobizz nutes) - I'm open to suggestion really. I just want to roll out with the aforementioned dimensions but upgrade the mars hydro ts1000. nothing spectacular but something that provides good light coverage
1st pic is the clones as is 2nd, 3rd is some autos just vegging away... 4th pic is the two autos in 20l pots two days shy of 8 weeks post sprout (left - fat banana auto, right - green gelato auto)
Like stated, looking at new lighting, was contemplating a couple <a href=" removed link ">Spider Farmer® SF2000 LM301H EVO 200W LED Grow Light but even then I think I'd be better investing in something better instead of two of the same.. I like the look of those light bars, only thing that I'm reluctant about is light coverage they provide
Not an earthshattering investment but still considerable, so want to get it right
@dustinpoirier Welcome to Percys. found the best way to keep the gnats under control is using mosquito dunks in my water buckets.
Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.
@dustinpoirier you might have figured it out but our site doesn’t allow live links in messages and remove them automatically, except for YouTube videos.
You equipment choices can be confusing at first. It’s always better to buy right the first time or you’ll end up with an equipment shelf full of unwanted stuff. Lots of us have one of those spaces. I’d recommend starting a thread on what you’re trying to accomplish and the members will give you their opinions to help you. There’s probably someone here that already has experience with the things you are looking at purchasing. Biggest expense is your light and also biggest mistake most first time buyers make is going too small to save money. Lights will be the most expensive part of the grow but if you cheap out you’re just gonna have to buy another one later. Find a good light that has more than enough coverage and intensity for your tent. You might spend more initially but you won’t be tempted to replace the light in a few runs.

@dustinpoirier Welcome, bro. Glad to have another soil grower. Don't let the gnats drive you away. If you have an excess then it likely means the soil surface has been too wet, letting them take hold. Like others said, start a diary (ITS FREE!) and loads of people will help.

@im_sparky thanks sparky, I'll see about a diary for my auto clones if they take off... too far in with the other 4 ladies and too time consuming to do 4 different diaries at one go.
& yeah gnats seem to only be an issue through seedling / veg As the plants seem to absorb the water quicker during flower; isn't as much of an issue, that and I bought the yellow tape stuff to give them something to gravitate towards...
bought some "bugclear ultra" spray to eradicate the gnats but i ended up with a mushroom growing out the side of my fabric pot so I knocked that on the head and isolated that plant just because I'm not entirely sure what went down there but plant is still growing
& thanks @monkeydo i'll take my query regarding the lighting to a wider audience... on these very forums...
@dustinpoirier Mushrooms are the fruiting body of micorrhizae in the soil, which are essential to providing your plants nutrition. Essentially, the roots tips make sugars that feed the benficials, and they in turn transport nutrients into the root hairs to feed the plant. Generally speaking, micorrhizae is an excellent sign about the health of your soil, but mushrooms are often seen when the soil has been too wet for too long (e.g., after a a couple of days of heavy rain).

but mushrooms are often seen when the soil has been too wet for too long (e.g., after a a couple of days of heavy rain).makes sense.. was the only one i didnt throw some clay pellets at the bottom of the pot to allow drainage, was probably sitting in its own run off a little too long.. it's raised now, I actually put it down to the "bugclear ultra" which I used to treat the gnats with..
my only regret is instantly swabbing it off and not snapping a picture to document it, it pretty much shot out inside 36 hours and I put it down to the spray because the label says it's for "flowering, fruit and veg"...
