New Growers new grower & need some advice

i wouldnt say theres a right or a wrong way here.. why not try a few each way then you will learn more than all one way or other? - thats if u like investigating and have time to trial...

i personally use a small pot to start autos off in (usually a 2L or 1/2 gal pot) then pot up once plant is established .. one big advantage of starting small is easier not to overwater when seedling is small which stunts em .. and autos dont have much time to be spending stunted 

start a diary be a great way to get any help / feedback along the way

@pc420 Yer man, as chillbert said, either way is cool really. But for me, I prefer to plant straight into the medium and let them do their thing. Those coco pots can throw off pH sometimes and it can causes issues. I prefer to go as nature intended 😉

I’d go for starting them in small pots in seed starter mix and then transplanting them. That coast of Maine soil has been on my radar for quite a while. It would be great if you would run a diary on this grow so we could see what this supersoil can do. So far that particular soil hasn’t been documented at Percy’s.

@pc420, Maine!!! Let's do Lobster rolls in Portland for lunch, PLEASE!!! lol Glad you made it here man, Percy's is a great place to get thing sorted out. Auto's as you know are your best choice, but I'm in hydro and the mid-west so no help to you at all. But these guy's that are will give you every scenario and then you can decide. I would start mine inside and then transfer outside, there, that's my 2 cents! lol  Welcome.

@monkeydo  hi,thnx for the advice, I've only had 3 grows under my belt , the 1st was 😬 😩 ,2nd grow came out o.k. could've had more yield,3rd grow my last one I had 5 plants ( also had a whitefly issue n spider mites) but I bought 3000 ladybugs n let them go in my tent , that took care of that .this grow, I got 3 critical purple,3 tangerine dream& 3 bubble gum all auto-flowers. the other grows I put right in the end medium ( Coast of Maine, Stonington blend ) even w/ the sm.fuk ups That soil is awesome! no adding nuts,or measuring, etc... soooo easy I knew someone that uses it n swears by it , so yes I'll start a diary so excited ! approx.2 months or so n I'll be a very happy camper!

Greetings @pc420, welcome to the wide world of Percys! I'm not too experienced with autos but the last time I used the final pot filled with soil then dug out the center 3-4 inches then backfilled the hole with seed starter mix. Some growers use eye droppers, syringes, turkey basters, pipettes, drinking bottles to control overwatering. A clear cup, container, or cut plastic pop bottle placed over seed keeps the soil from drying out. Once the seedling is up venting or removing the clear cover should be done or else it may get fried. Then water around the seedling not on it, capillary action will take the water to the plant and also helps the plant spread it's roots searching, IMO. 🤠 

@chillbert thanks for the advice, every bit helps. I'm only on my 4th  grow & my 2nd  one by myself. I ended up putting the seeds that germinated n have about an inch long taproot in little seed starter coconut coir pods when they are stronger n a bit larger I'll plant them in 5-gallon fabric pots. I have a mars hydro tsw 2000 light setup along w/ 3 other grow lights (small ones )  in a 4 X 4 vivasun tent approx. 8 ft high . I used Coast of Maine soil Stonington blend on my last grow n LOVE it ! no mixing nuits n no flushing them b4 harvest so much less complicated ( for me anyway ) we'll see, Now don't laugh but my last grow was from seeds out of previous grows  I got 5 really nice girls out of it.  I just bought from Growers Choice seeds 3 different auto-flower strains,bubble gum critical purple,& tangerine dream ,so I'm excited  

@hart thanks ,hey to u 2 , glad i found this forum i really don't want to fuk up our seeds/ plants  so every bit of advice helps   it's been very dry down here in s.w. fl.  not to mention both my husband n I need this glorious plant me for migraines n my husband for his excruciating pain in his back n neck ( he was in a car accident a few yr's back )  plus I have to admit I really like tending to the plant's
