Sick Plant New to growing
Long time toker, new to growing. I'm a farmer who was blessed to have access to a growing setup earlier this year. I am currently in my 2nd grow.
In our daily life, we are very organic and natural (no chemicals exist in our home). The grower who is letting me tend his setup has several years of growing under his belt. He has settled on using ocean Forest soil and fox farm fertilizers. Knowing nothing of growing, I stepped in and continued using what he had advised me. My experience has been fun, and this 2nd grow had been more successful than the first, however I did get too busy on the farm to do any trimming whatsoever. ***I did attempt to FIM 2 of my plants, and they went into flower the next day - oops
I have enjoyed the simplicity of fox farms products, but I continue hearing if super soil and am very interested. It looks like entry price for that level is around $200-$300. I've heard this is a soil you can keep alive and using for years, and I would love more info on this!
I had been working on a nice compost earlier this year and did end up mixing my ocean Forest 50/50 with it. I can't say whether it did any benefit or not, but the plants are certainly taller than my toddlers. My first grow wasn't even close to comparable in plant growth or yeild, but the quality was incredible. It was 4 blue dream plants.
I believe I am within a week of this harvest. This is a Do-Si-Do strain. Any and all advice welcome!
@iggiduckets welcome to Percy’s and welcome to your new favorite hobby. Sounds like you’ve got a good objective with the living soil bed. We have a couple of growers around here that run living soil beds. Clackmas Coot and Build-a-soil are also both great resources for info on that stuff. We’ve had interviews with both of them on the podcast.
Unfortunately, I think you are a good bit more than a week away from harvest on those plants. I’d say a minimum of a month left for those buds to fatten up, get sticky, and properly ripen. There’s not a lot of frost on the sugar leaves yet and those pistils are still too white and growing. You’ll probably get to enjoy them a bit longer before the chop.

@iggiduckets Welcome to Percys ,Everything looking fantastic and the best thing you did is mix you Ocean Forest mix with you compost . It makes a world of difference but now you can start with making some living soil ready for next year.
Welcome to Percys @iggiduckets good to have you here 🙂 If you need any help finding your way around the forum or have any questions just let us know 👍

@iggiduckets Welcom to Percys. Nice grow setup you got there. We got quite a few people in here growing in big living soil beds. If you got any question someone will have an answer for sure

@monkeydo thank you very much for the insight, I'm very grateful. Can I ask, I believe consensus say, flushing plants isn't nessecary. Are you familiar with these fox farms bottle fertilizers? Am I able to skip flushing these plants? Under the assumption they were close, they haven't had any in almost 2 weeks 😱 ive gotta feed em!
I have been enjoying the podcast very much! There is alot of content to consume. Thank all of you for your efforts.

We’ve talked about flushing a lot both on the podcast as well as around the forum. Consensus is that it’s optional. Some people like to do it and some don’t. If you are growing in soil flushing isn’t recommended at all. The best practice in soil seems to be very similar to what you did this time around. Just stop feeding them a week or so before you chop and you should be fine. Do you have anything to use to see the trichomes up close and look for color? That’s the most reliable way to judge harvest time. A good 30 or 40x loupe works great and so does a usb microscope.

Thank you all for the welcome! I'm grateful for all of information available.
I do have a USB microscope to use. It's not my favorite thing, but it does work.
I am excited to be a part of the community. 😁 looking forward to developing new methods over time! I hope to achieve fat buds like you seasoned growers.
@monkeydo regarding fertilizer, I did water only the girls last night. I should have added fertilizer in then.
Would more harm than good be done if I were to hit them all with fertilizer tonight? Or should I just wait til the next time i water? I have a feeling waiting may be the safe answer.
