At first I want you all to supply us with info about what type of lamp you use.

Mars Hydro, Spider Farmer, Zeus 308, ... are all LM301B types with passive cooling!

I know there are COBs that work as well but dont know your types please let me know so I can consider them as well.

To put the light into a more diagonal position did not lead to overheating with my mars TS1000 nor with the zeus 308 compact.

Anyway they can become nearly twice as cool if you have an airflow over their passive cooling - this goes for any passive cooler add air flow makes it active!

I don't see any reason you can't angle the light a little, other than a loss of efficiency with light coverage I would imagine. Just remember that if you are blowing air over your light you are blowing all of that heat around your tent.  If having heat issues in your tent it will be better to exhaust the air right above your light rather than blow it around in the tent. 😀

I’ve got one tent with Mars SP series lights that get angled any time I feel the need. The SP lights are built using a heat sink design to cool the board and power supply and it works just fine at any angle.

Dont get me wrong - this question appaered in the chat and we thought we should take it serious - I angle my lights when needed as well.

The Angle might do a difference in efficiency  nobody had a look for by now.

So please tell me about your lights and I will do research on chips and angles.

All above lamps use chips from the type LM30xx which have a light angle of 120°.

Osram Oslo SSL 120 have as well an angle of 120°.

Luminus UV chips have an angle of 130°.

Means get your light into some angle should be now problem.

I use a few, I have 2 x Bloomplus BP4000, 1x Spider Farmer SF4000, 1 x Spiderfarmer SF1000, 1 x Spider Farmer SE7000 and a few cheap blurples. Out of all the lights i believe i can angle every one of them except for the blurples(i could still put these on an angle too but never felt the need as they are really supplementary lighting for the veg tent and or clones). I have the driver outside the tent for the SE7000 and if i wanted to angle it it would be fine except for the extra space it takes over on an angle, i would be able to tilt the others as well but haven't looked at how the heat would be effected as every other light has their drivers attached to the board, i can remove them but have never felt the need, The Se7000 is a lot of light and the driver gets real hot, easily adding 5-8c to the tents temp, in a smaller tent its too much heat and thus why i have that driver outside the tent. Would be interesting to see if it really does effect the heat, The BP4000 have dual drivers on the board so effectively both lights equals 4 drivers, only problem i can see is that on the right angle the lower driver may cause heat sock for the upper driver but it would be minimal, still something to consider though.

I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.
