I am looking at getting new lights to run on solar and quantum boards seem to be a great shout with the super low power consumption . Has anyone any experience in using these and done and real world power consumption test ?
@arniescarpa For things like that I would recommend the youtube channel Migro, with Shane Torpey, he ha shones reviews of all the quantum board style lighting with testing too.

@arniescarpa, no unfortunately not. This topic keeps coming up but hasn't gotten a lot of info on it. I would like to know more and have been looking at pieces and parts for a while now. I have the prime roof with a due south exposure that's clear and just sitting there. I don't know your location but I know some of the Aussie grower are on solar. @bubblehok might have something to say about this. I very curious and would like to have something going here soon. But this isn't my cup of tea so moving slowly. Good luck and hope this topic keeps going.
Uhhhh, I believe @bubblehok runs most of his grow on solar. He’s the one I’d ask for answers. Sorry for being dramatic but it’s Friday and me and the Mrs are enjoying a few bowls. Cheers everyone, hope your Friday is just as relaxed

Yep so I run solar, not sure what the total kW is of the system off hand would have to double check but I can run the entire house and my 4x8 and the 4x4 (2 x 400w draw boards in the 4x8 and 730w spiderfarmer commercial in the 4x4) and worst power bill I got was mid summer and I was running a/c constantly, even then it was only about $80 for the quarter. What I do know is that it's a larger system as we have a business on the property that shares the power too. So I can't split between the two and give you a detailed cost, but it is a damn sight cheaper than without solar.
I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.
Thanks @bubblehok, so you are still hooked to the grid and sell back to the electric company? and they supply you with what you come up short on? Hey you know me I gotta thousand fucking questions but for you I'll knock it down to 500. lol
So your total system, business and all, number of panels? Battery back-up/storage, how many? I have a shop that I would love to power but the cost is the only thing stopping me. lol thanks man.
Whats the difference between like my FC4800 light & a quantum board?
So a quantum board will be all on one big flat board like the SF4000 and the fc/se are bar light LEDs so you will get a more even coverage with the bar style over a quantum but quantum boards tend to be better options for home growers. The big commercial style bar lights can require you to use C02 and that's a whole other kettle of fish.

@woodi2 I will have to dig that all out for you it's democracy sausage day here and I have my brothers wedding reception so when I get home tonight I will have a dig through my paperwork and see if I can find the specific of the system I have, but yes it feed back to the grid and they pay us for any power fed back into the grid minus our usage. I usually don't pay anything unless I'm running every electric item in the house constantly lol
