Hi all I’m after some help please. I’m thinking of starting my next grow (photos)off in my drying tent while my Auto are growing in my other tent. Plan is hopefully ? two autos will be ready around the same time take them out, put the others in while my other autos finish then flip to 12/12. Question is what light can I use? Which will be best for a 50 x 50 x 100cm tent on its side? So I haven’t much room height wise. Now don’t laugh but I was changing a lightbulb the other day and found this CFL, could I use something like this?

Any help massively appreciated ??✌️

Id got for T5 if its only for veg ing mate. You can get a long one, and they can get really close to the plants before causing any burn n shit. Great for young plants.

You could use the CFL too, but put a couple in there, im not sure it will be enough light.

Hi mate, as for the cfl I’m not too sure. But what I can say is I have a similar size tent 60x60x120 on its side with a t5 4 x cool tubes which is probably the best for all round including value. By the time I’ve trained and they’re almost touching the light at the highest it can go (60cm) the flower tent is ready for them to move into, then take cuts again and veg them while big ones flower so on so on. I got mine given but they’re cheap enough.

Also the kelvin for that cfl you have is 2700k. Which will work but ideally for tight node stacking (veg) you want a high kelvin (6500k) and for flower you want a low kelvin. So bear that in mind if/when buying bulbs.

Thanks @macky and @idealbatch was thinking T5 as a lot of growers on insta seem to use em for cuttings etc. Any brand you can recommend or are they all the same?

@3plantspete

I'd say they are pretty much the same just check the tubes (lamp) you use as they will differ.

I personally use a 4' dual tube (bulb) 'shop light' from Home Depot (hardware store) with 'daylight' spectrum bulbs.  Cheap and works, at least for me anyway (seedlings/early veg).  Think it was $40 CND all-in.

They're all the same...ballasts are the same, tubes are the same...just a different box 😉 and thats where the vast expense increase is plus the fact they're labelled 'hydro' so instant 30% price hike...

Cheap one, as long as tubes are daylight, all good 😉
