Hey Guys. I just had a question.. I'm wanting to make a 4x4 bed of soil for my tent, ideally to start a no-till style of growing.

I can buy the inputs off Amazon, or somewhere else online but I'm wondering if there are any decently cheap places to get things like Neem seed, Alfalfa meal, Kelp Meel Basalt Rock dust, Oyster Shell, Gypsum.

I'm in the south eastern US, and walked into a tractor supply and it looks like they have oyster shells, and alfalfa pellets for Horses but not sure if these can be used? Really appreciate the help <3

In addition to the above, I'm also looking for some "cheap" malted barley.... Found this on Amazon but not sure if this is what I should be looking for?

Again, really appreciate the help!! ❤️

I'd suggest looking up your local Home Brewing Supplies and getting your malt grains there as they will "crack" them for you which helps save a step for you. Ask for the cheapest malt they have or look on their website for any specials you should find you will spend about 1/4 of the price of the Amazon item you posted. Good Luck

Hey guys, just an update on this. I put all sorts of natural inputs in this soil mix. Mostly following the Coots recipe along with BuildASoil reccommendations. It sat there for like a week with good airflow, but it never heated up in the middle. I'd go out to turn it every day and it was never hot.

Well, I added that malted Barley and went to turn it the next day and the pile was steaming!! Really freakin excited, as I'm pretty sure this is a great sign.

Cheers everyone

@skinnie_p I don't see why you can't use pellets. I used alfalfa straw as mulch.
