I made my first batch of canna balm yesterday and slathered my elbows and knees with it last night. They felt so good this morning. After a shower, I reapplied it this morning. Success 
My whole kitchen and house smell like coconut oil but that's a small price to pay for the relief I already feel. It's not a bad smell but I like a neutral smell in my place....nothing standing out so to speak.... but there you go...it could be worse :0 One time I got on a vinegar 'cleaning spree'... everywhere.... and man that was bad. Told myself not to do that again.
is it hard to make guys and what type relief do you get from it, i smoke copious amounts of weed for my Spondylosis, arthritic knee and sholder and only god himself knows what type weed it is is. i dont know if it releives the pain as more distracts me from it, i still have to take massive amounts of Tramadol and the 3 d's ,Diafene,Dialac and Diazapan, and ibuprofen for when its only slightly at me would the balm work better then smoking for relief and then i could just smoke for the enjoyment per say. oh and is it only a cbd strain that gives you proper relief. or would balm from any strain work just as good. and more to the point how much better is it from the pharmaceutical goodies the doctor gives me.

I used to take tramadol and codeine for an MCL injury and I don't take any pharma meds for pain anymore. A combination of edibles, smoking, and balms like this one did wonders for me.
If you make the coconut oil with a high THC strain the tingling around the affected area will be more noticeable, however, I haven't seen much difference in terms of pain relief with regards to THC/CBD balms. Both work for me, but, that's just me.
Experimentation is key when it comes to everything cannabis-related in my opinion - what works for me might not work for you. I think starting with this type of balm, made from any strain of cannabis, will give you a good idea if this type of product will work for you
