Hey everyone,

My husband has advanced multiple sclerosis. I've been growing now for about a year for him. Unfortunately the strains I have grown in the past are no longer having having desired effect or really fully controlling his symptoms and the spasms are spreading to his spine.

I'm just wondering if anyone here grows for spasticity and what strains they recommend?  I've been growing him a hybrid mendocino skunk, as he has some depression from chronic pain. It used to do the job but I think maybe I should switch to some indicas.

Thank you.💚

Sorry to hear what is going on I'm sure someone with more experience then me will be along shortly to help out, I no people smoke to stop fits from epilepsy maybe them strains would help with multiple sclerosis too. Their has been a few podcast interviews with these people on not sure if the strains they use were mentioned but maybe it's worth a look

we all have a unique endocannabinoid system so strain hunting is very personal.  a high THC indica is where i would start due to there relaxing properties. also find a good CBD strain to help would possibly have benefits also.

Hey Green tea, sorry to hear about your husband's situation. How often does he take cannabis medicine? It could be that he is building up a tolerance to it? I know that happens to regular users, and I've experienced myself.

I'd agree with Billy and perhaps suggest a nice strong Indica, to give that all over body stone. Personally I'd recommend Herijuana by Sannie seeds, incredibly strong (not the tastiest by a long way) but really hits the spot.

All the best Leo.

I wonder if the Auto Elefant I was growing would be good, it's up to 20% THC and 10% CBD on top, it is very very muscle relaxing, try and have a read about it on the Super Sativa Seed Club website.

@billy420bonds yeah I have been going with a mendocino skunk, which has worked a lot.  Took a lot of trying to find it.   Even if it's not totally controlling the spasms anymore its still keeping his mood up which is something.

oils will work well....  so edibles. and a variety of strains are needed due to strain tolerance

@leo-stile he medicates all day every day Leo! Has done for many years.  It's not the strain, it's his illness getting worse.  All I can really do is react to it. He is sitting beside me right now and I can feel his legs banging off the arm of his chair.

I have a Jack herer I literally just chopped down now.  When it dries and I trim it and cure it a wee bit ill try him on it but I don't think it'll do much.

@greentea hi there, awesome of you to grow meds yourself!

i cant advise from personal experience of treating someone with ms but have seen sufferers of other physical ailments like ticks/ chronic pain /  use and prefer strong indica types.

How many plants do you grow? you could grow a small selection of such types which might help keep tolerance in check by giving more options to the user. Different strains, plus cocktails (mixing them) work well when tolerance is high.. more angles of attack to help with pain management etc

Cbd rich strains may also be of help.

Do you grow autos or photos?

At this point only trial and error will tell for sure but I can recommend strains including Remo Chemo (DNA genetics) / Bubba Kush (various seeds banks but HSO is a good one if you can find)/ GG4 (GG genetics) are examples of high thc indica types reknown for medicinal values and used by many patients for many years..

Some high cbd varieties known for medicinal quality include harlequin ...

are you in a position (legal country ) where you can try before you invest in seeds ?

good luck

will add more if i hear of anything meanwhile

Time to pop some more beans 😗
