Anyone got a tip for not sucking at mudding drywall?
Practice makes perfect. Probably not what you are looking for but it’s the way it is with mud work.
Random acts of kindness make the world a better place
@sincerelypineapple, Ok so you suck at drywall so then Stop! lol You have everything taped in and sealed, perfect, now stop. You don't need to finish believe it or not, at least not now. What I'm saying is Sand what you have, just knock down all the globs and boggers, then paint. wtf Paint? yep paint it and put up your tents, then when you decide not to have tents in there you can finish your taping right on top of the paint, No problem. A lot of garages are just one coat of mud and tape (fire taped) as long as you knock down all the bumps before painting that will help a lot. See if that works for you or just keep practicing young man, you'll get it someday!! 👍
@woodi2 Ok this was my thoughts last night, I was just worried if I painted I could never come back and paint the wall as it would be hard to sand down with paint.
I don't really give a damn how it looks i just don't want moisture getting sucked up into the walls
For paint i was just going to use some drywall primer or is there a better option?
@sincerelypineapple, the Gripper from HD for primer and then any Wall paint, cheaper works but I wouldn't buy the Cheapest. Two good top coats and your done. But sand down what you have, don't sand through the paper of the drywall, then primer (I get the 5 gallon buckets and have them shake them), then the two finish coats and let it air out a bit and you could be in there by this weekend. White is alright.
If the sanding makes too much dust and the wife starts coming unglued, you can use a large sponge like a large course car washing sponge and it will knock down the globs and boogers. The sanding is quicker and flatter for a finished product.
We did it!
Only thing left on the to do is to find a way to fill the gap between joists above the wall and we are basically set to go.
I have decided against venting to the outside through the dryer vent I'm just gunna seal it or if I do an exhaust just dump it into the mechanical room.
I'm really leaning towards dealing it so I can play with CO2 some day. Anyone have thoughts?
