@sincerelypineapple, lol, Rockwool insulation, the same stuff we use for plants but really big. lol would be a good way to fill in the joist spaces, it's an insulation and sound proofing that come in bates that are like 2'x3'x 6" thick and you cut it with a kitchen Ginus knife, it's like square plug that pushes in after careful cutting. Wear heavy gloves this shit is nasty to work with but will plug odd shaped holes.
or go the the nearest recycling center and snag some cardboard. lol 🤣
@sincerelypineapple, if were mine I would use cardboard, and I would cut the cardboard 2" longer than needed and then fold the two ends so you can staple through that, then it won't fall out. After that is installed, you can then use the fiberglass pushed against cardboard. That's the quick and easy way, there are other ways but they are more complicated and require more skills.
@sincerelypineapple I am not sure how I missed your thread earlier, but this is a great project. Sounds as if @Woodi2 can do just about anything, too. By the way, I can do drywall mud and make it look good, I am just three times slower than a professional
It looks great, and I think you might be able to grow a plant or two in that space!

I'm really leaning towards dealing it so I can play with CO2 some day. Anyone have thoughts?
If it were mine, after going to all that effort for an amazing grow-space, I'd go ahead and at least make preparations now for CO2 later by sealing it all up. It's gonna be fantastic.

Man, I really feel like I have lost my way. I got all my tubs in here and all the parts for an under current rdwc kit, and I just can't bring myself to drill these holes for pipes. Between worrying about pathogens and clogs in pipes leading to flooding my basement with 130 gallons (0.49 m³) of liquid, I feel like I need to pull back.
I still want to try rdwc some day, but that day I want to also have the money to automate most of the adjusting of water, and that day just isn't this year. Tubs are going back to Home Depot.
Coming full circle coco seems to be the best stop gap for me, I still want to try to automate as much as possible mostly to prevent myself from over loving the plants.
I have looked at bato buckets and autopots, but I think I have paralyzed myself with research and over analyzing a problem.
I'm going to go get some big drain trays
use my water from from my rdwc design to run some drippers on a timer like the grow guides section has.
Then only thing I gotta worry about is keep one res full.
That sounds far more feasible right?
@sincerelypineapple, RDWC is fine and fun but I've found my happy place with one simple tub for one plant, one submersed pump to stir it and air stones, done. I've got 1lb plants from a 5 gallon bucket before but I've come to like my simple single tub method. I got a lot of buckets with holes in them. lol Now the moving water in RDWC sure does get great results and that's a fact and the learning experience is invaluable but it is a rabbit hole and a lot of Bro Science everywhere. Starting out small maybe the best way no matter what medium.
