Hello

Im brand new to growing. Im just getting setting up, ive bought a 60x60 mars hydro tent and slowly working out everything i need. Iv read all the guides which are great and could have saved me the cost of a book which i had bought and is not as detailed. Im still a bit stumped on which extractor fan and carbon filter to go for. Id appretiate any suggestions . Budget is not so much as an issue as needing it to remove all smell and be very quiet. Thanks in advance

@tenthsam welcome to Percy’s mate. Sounds like you are almost ready to get started. Everyone has their own method of determining what kit they need. For me, I over supply my tent with extraction power just in case I need it later. For me I put a 6” AC infinity extraction fan on a 0.5m2 tent. This is crazy overkill but it never needs to be run over 50% speed ever so it’s extremely quiet. Technically a 4” extraction fan would be plenty for your tent size, I just over supply my tent just in case it’s needed.

Welcome Sam, good ot have you mate. Like Monkey said, get a 5 or 6 inch extractor and carbon filter. That will be plenty of air flow. You can then slow the fan down to make it quieter but still give the plants plenty of fresh air Smile

@monkeydo thanks for the advice. I was checking out tge ac infinity fan. Do you think the 4" would be enough ? Also would you recommend their carbon filter?

4 inch will be enough mate but you will need that on full power. Using a bigger fan allows you to slow it down, reducing the noise.

Macky knows the score mate 😉

4 inch is sufficient to grow with but larger offers more benefits, like lower noise and extra power if you get into a bind.

The AC Infinity line of fans is very good. I have the 4" for my 4x2 tent and it works great. I love the digital controller that shows inside the tent temp and humidity.

Yes, it will. Both readings come from one sensor attached to the controller by a long cable. I like that I can raise and lower it in my tent so that I can always get my readings from canopy height. You can also use the temp and humidity sensor to turn the fan on and off at set thresholds, but I do not use that as I want constant airflow.

Hey @tenthsam welcome to Percy's. I am also new here and I have had a great experience. Listen to the guys, they've been there Smile
My 2 cents: It you are in prohibition land, this is even more important, so if budget is not an issue, I would just want to be super safe and make sure I don't raise any suspitions and kinda go a it '@monkeydo style': over supply it baby!
