Been listening to the HOHG podcast now for quite a while and love listening every week to the banter, guides and interviews. It’s inspired me to try new things, and so far I’ve had success with outdoor and one indoor grow. However, the winter season in the Uk is pretty miserable, cold and damp, so the last indoor one went horribly wrong and I got mould when drying and has to bin the lot.  What’s the best strain for a colder damper climate?

Welcome to Percy’s @twojays and thanks for listening to the podcast. We enjoy making it and hearing from the listeners. I can’t recommend any strain that tolerates cold because my environment is very different to that. We have lots of members from all over the world so hopefully someone will have some information to share.

I don't have an answer for you @twojays, but you might need to correct some of the problems from last time. Maybe a small heater would help, I don't know. But we can help you get things straighten out if you want. Let us know what the problems are.

Now we don't fly in and do Grow Room make overs like you see on TV and all, the budget just won't allow it, but you tell us what's up and we'll see what needs to be fixed. 👍

@woodi2 thanks for replying - yeah the issue is that is an outdoor brick room, so it gets cold and damp. Had all extractors and inlets on, but it was just taking too long to dry.  I’ve thought about heater, and got my eye on one….but thinking that next time round I’m gonna dry inside the house instead where it’s warmer.

I tried a few different seeds from fast buds and only one of them started growing recently-but then when the cold weather hit, it just stopped growing and collapsed - the main stalk just went all soft.

so now I’m thinking of looking for a hardier strain-seen a few advertised as good for cold and mould resistance, but just wondered if anyone has had the same problem.

@twojays, what medium are you growing in? Soil, coco, hydro? Maybe it's a combination of problems. If you can sprout your seeds inside where it warm and let them get established that will give you week-s to work on the grow space.

But if it damp and cool then some heat and lots of air movement of a While, as you know. What size is this area your trying to use?

@twojays I remember covering Guerrilla Grows on the podcast a long time ago and Dutch Passion has a strain that they claim is both cold and moisture tolerant. It’s called Pamir Gold. It’s not gonna handle full on winter conditions but it might be better than the ones you’ve already run. I’ve never grown this one so there’s not much more I can offer as information.

There’s a couple other ones I just remembered too, all meant to be for extreme conditions:

Sensi Seeds - Guerrilla Gusto

Royal Queen Seeds - Special Queen

Both of these are advertising that they can be successfully grown outdoors in N Europe and the UK so might have good cold tolerance.

Greetings @twojays, glad to meet you! Fresian Duck is supposed to be good for the northern climates and has the added benefit of a stealthy grow in that the leaves are not normal shaped but webbed like ducks feet. 😎

We just smiled n waved sittn there on that sack o seeds

thanks everyone! I’ve done a bit of research-the fresian duck I think I’ve heard of - might try it out. And I like the sounds of the royal queen too! Might try a few. Get them going first inside before moving to the tent.

it’s only a 4x4 tent and the room it is in is dry, but just that the outside air is humid right now - about 70-80.

I’ll let you all know how I get on.

thanks again Smile
