Hi all

hopefully you can help

I have a grow that is showing signs of nutrient burn it’s most first grow using advanced nutrients connoisseur and The full range of advanced to go with it I’ve been guilty of neglecting my EC and after reading several of the posts on here I can see the error of my ways something that confuses me is my water EC appears to be 640 before adding any nutrients this is tapwater it’s been put through to fridge drinking water filters what are peoples average EC for their water I appreciate everybody’s will be different but I just feel mine is extremely high and wondering if I should use RO System and add Cal mag after .

this is a new house and I’ve only done three grows here and only dabbled in the past half-heartedly but I’m desperate to grow some decent product I am only a hobby Grower sorry for the long post Thumbs Up

@ukcheeseplease71 Welcome to percys man, do you have apic of the plant mate? Advanced are very strong nuits. And the EC mater should display some thing like 0.6, or 1.5, if yours is showing number like 657, it is probably a TDS or PPM meter.

So let us know what model that is too so we can know what measurement it is Smile

They aint looking too bad mate, a little over fed but thats standard with advanced nuits Smile

What are you feeding them, like what nuits, and how much of those nuits per litre, how often?

I found anything over 2ml per litre of advanced was too much, and they recommend four..... so over feeding is common with those nuits

@ukcheeseplease71 Is that in water? Or in your nutrient mix?

@ukcheeseplease71 I live in a hard water area with an EC of 0.6 out the tap. I use canna nutes but always use less than the recommended doses. The highest EC I'd feed my plants would be 1.6-1.8. The plants will let you know. Just don't need as much Cal mag

Hi @ukcheeseplease71, welcome to Percy’s. I use Advanced Nutrients Sensi Coco in my grows. I find the charts from Advanced Nutrients are way too strong. My grows never go above 50% of what is recommended and mostly a lot less than that. I’d back off to half what you are using to start.

When I started my growing I was using tap water. I found out that my background EC was 540 on a good day so I switched to rainwater and it made all the difference in the world. I’ve also used RO water when there’s no rain and it’s great as well. Both get between 0.5ml/liter and 0.75ml/liter of cal/mag added. It doesn’t take very much at all.

As far as continuing to use that tap water, as a general rule you can ignore the first 300 in your background EC when calculating nutrient load but as yours is so high it also works against the plants uptaking nutrients properly. At 640 background you are already 340 into your nutrient load when you do the math. That’s not ideal but you can grow cannabis with tap water like that but it won’t be as vigorous or yield as much. You’ll probably have to use a good bit less nutrients to avoid the burn with that tap water.

Your pistils are still white so all isn’t loss. Plenty time to finish her right
