I’m not as good at ranting as the podcast hosts but I’ll give it a go to cleanse myself 😂

I’ve got a teenager with adhd , autism dyslexia etc and he medicated with weed . After a bit of friction both me and the wife accept it as the alternative is cocoa one and other stuff that’s not so good . After I tried it a few years ago I was converted myself and started growing so I could keep my son away from the dealers, (I enjoyed growing it). I’m a firefighter and wife a teacher so she got me to stop and get a prescription to avoid problems at work . 

I’ve researched the whole history of prohibition and like many it makes me seethe . 

the burden of proof should lie with the governments to prove it’s harmful which they NEVER did even in 1972! For decades you can shut down for being a criminal before you even get a chance to make a point and there no evidence coz it’s banned ! Nowadays we’re told by always non cannabis users that it’s dangerous despite everyone just about takes takes it having the opposite option together with now medical backing (David nutt etc). 

im up in Scotland and plan to use my position as a legal user to at least converse with the government as the SNP are fairly receptive to the extent my MP supports home grow . I agree with other like Simpa carter that medical is a sham but at least I can speak without getting nicked ! Rant over 

There's a really interesting book about the history of America's war on drugs called 'Chasing The Scream.'  There's never been a sensible reason for prohibition, but the BIGGEST driver of keeping that effort going for so long is racism.  Differential enforcement of prohibition is a handy way to over-police black and brown communities, and if you know much about America you'll understand how irresistible that is to us.  

Almost every weird American phenomenon has its roots in racism, like tipping, for instance.
