I'm on my second grow in soil. Weeks into veg state each grow the new leaves started turning yellow at the top of the plant. the yellowing started at the edges and work its way to the stem of the leaf. I test my ph with every watering. I've used calmag to fix the issue but that didn't work. I thought it was a lockout so I flushed the plants.  Any suggestions?

Pictures of the whole plant as well as images of the discolored leaves would help us diagnose the issue better. Maybe you could post a few pics of the plant.

Looks to be a deficiency ... what is the PH of your feed/water? Are you feeding them and if so with what. What are they growing in, soil or coco and what brand? That type of discoloration is usually caused by uptake issues caused by some stress. This one looks like a zinc uptake problem and that’s usually fixed with ph and a little time. Perhaps someone else has some ideas as well.

My water PH is 6.5. I'm growing in soil. I also thought it might be zinc, but I've read soooo much on it. I've read that usually doesn't happen because very little is required. I read it could be a lockout, so I flushed my plants. Still yellowing. On my first grow when it first started to happen, I calmag my plants. Never slowed down the yellowing. I'm using an organic fertilizer of 5.4.4. every 3 wks.

I'm very consistent on PH of water. I even bought another PH meter to make sure the first one was working correctly. This is driving me crazy! My  organic soil was purchased at store. I can't remember the name of it.

My best guess is it is probably the soil doing this. The plants are very dark green mostly and a couple have deformed leaves like this one:

CA3C208B E935 42CC 97D3 C4C4FA40234E

This is commonly caused by root stress. The soil is probably too hot for the roots. My guess is that it is enhanced with too much fertilizer. If the roots are in stress lots of weird things start happening, like uptake issues and leaf tip burn. These are both visible in the photos you sent. At this point I’d say don’t add anything else to the pots. As the plants use up the nutrients they should stabilize out. Alternatively you could try to flush the soil out a bit and see if they improve but don’t expect an instant overnight cure.

Most definitely not an overnight cure. I have flushed these out twice now. Once with a light flush and on the next watering I flushed again with heavy flushing. And yet I continue to get yellowing. I haven't fertilized in about 3 wks. I do understand the soil might be too hot. I'm a composter and I thought about using my compost medium. I know mine is still brewing and cooking down. Thanks for the tips. I will eventually figure this out. I was hoping for sooner than later.

I agree it looks like a nutrient deficiency .... I think you should pot them up in to bigger pots ... those pots look very small and your plant growth is being restricted it looks like ?!

what size pots are they and how old are your plants ?

LMAO, I was thinking why would my dirt still be sooo hot. These plants have been in these pots since middle of Feb. The brown saucer has 3 wedding cake clones that were taken at the end of Feb. and 2 unknown clones that were taken middle of Jan. The plant Monkeydo circled is a wedding cake clone, the yellow one next to it is also a wedding cake clone. I wanted to transplant this coming weekend. I was trying to get the yellowing under control before transplanting.

3 inch pots since feb 28 for wedding cake clones

3 inch pots since jan 30 for unknown clones (which are now starting to yellow).

All  pots were doing great for the first 3 wks. I water probably every other day maybe every 3 days. I was using calmag with every watering, but then read not to use unless there is a problem. So I stop using, especially when I started yellowing and I read it could be a lockout. That's why I flushed a couple of times. I flushed maybe 2 wks ago. Yellowing is getting worse. Go figure, I have the greenest thumb ever. But apparently I can't grow a weed.

Oh I use a organic 5.4.4. dry fertilizer which I stopped 3 wks ago because I thought it might be too much with calmag and  the dry fertilizer.

I even gave these a shot of Miracle grow March 4. I know I probably shouldn't be using Miracle grow. But I really wanted to stop the yellowing before it got this bad again.

Are you watering from the top, are you allowing the medium to dry out before watering again?. Deficiency may be the symptom but not nescessarily the cause

Yes watering from the top. Yes the medium is dried before I water again. I read that as well too much water could cause nut lockout. Nope I'm pretty much dried out by watering time.

Ok I took the two of the wedding cake clones and transplanted them. Basically there was very little root growth going on. I've never seen a plant with that little root system after about 3 months of growth.
