Good question.  It sounds like you and I are on the same quest.  I am thinking about Humic Acid too.  For right now I have Down to Earth's Acid mix (4-3-6).  The Acid Mix is only 2.5% humic acid, so I am not sure if my 1 pound box is enough for the super soil mix.  I been shopping around for raw humic acid and it looks expensive.  It might not even make any difference whether I add this or not (never used it before).  I want to try this Super Soil recipe to the tee so I guess it depends on if you want to follow the recipe to the letter or not.  Honestly, I think it's not too terribly important to add Humic Acid.  The thing is once it's mixed in, it cannot be taken out.  After further research, I am sticking to the Down to Earth Acid Mix (4-3-6) 1 lb.  Stay in touch and I will let you know how it works for me (4-6 months from now).

@hart Does Percy's have a Super Soil recipe?  Subcool's recipe calls for only two Tbs. humic acid for 12 cubic feet. I think 1/4 cup per cubic foot might burn a bit.

I do believe Temple Big G has a great recipe on here. I'm just sort of digesting stuff I'm reading on general horticulture. When you think homo sapiens have been growing shit for a fair number of Milena, there's a whole fucking realm of information out there on growing shit. And where shit grows, weed grows

 Pardon me stranger, but I'm new in town. Can you tell me what kind of humic acid you use, where you source yours from. 

Isn't there humic in compost? I have mine all mixed and ready to go, and @Hart you better put your thinking cap on, when I start this soil grow I'm going to have questions for you.  

Before the internet we got lame advice at best.  Most of the advice that I got was really bad.  I remember some fisherman that swore by composting fish heads and pig farmers swearing by pig shit.  I believe we are limited to whatever we can find.  Temple Grower's recipe looks Canadian.  I am taking his advice of resourcing local ingredients, however, it's completely different from Subcool's recipe.

@woodi2 I never added any humic acids to my grows (unless hidden in something that I wasn't aware of) in the past this season will be the first.

@superc, I think it's in the compost. I use it in hydro but that $60 for 500ml and it's for hydro, not dirt. lol

I use humid acid all the time in coco. It’s the the active component in Diamond Nectar from General Hydroponics. It’s a chelating agent to aid in nutrient absorption but in this form I don’t think it’s a soil additive as it comes in a clear liquid (for hydro, like Woodi mentioned)
