Hi all, just wanted a little advise if anyone can. Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place mods.

I am a coco grower using cana products and I have been doing one day of salts and then the next day water only.  What do you guys do? Should I do salts every day or leave it to dry instead of water on the other day?

Nothing is looking bad or that but I wanted to see what others do. This is only my second grow

Thanks in advance for any help

Lots of love,

Jocky

I feed every time I water and when plants are in flower I like to fertigate 3-4 times a day via auto watering. I also like to keep the EC level as low as I can, the plants can feed better and multiple cycles per day allow the plants to find what they need anytime cause the feed is replenished frequently. Don’t think anyone else here does this tho.

@monkeydo

Cheers monkey. That makes sense but I hand water so multiple times a day would be difficult. I will try your way next run though and try maybe once or twice a day but I will add the nutes each water on my next run. These ladys are going into flush on Friday

@jockychan if you are just learning coco it’s best to stick to once daily. Get a decent EC/TDS meter and we can teach you how to manage feed levels by measuring the input and output EC when you water. You probably are already doing it but just in case, always allow 20% runoff to help flush excess salts from the coco.

Definitely nutes with every watering, always water the whole pot to run off and at least once per day, never let Coco dry.

I'm doing my first time grow in Coco and using Canna nutes as well, it's quite involving but also a great learning experience.

Thanks again,

I do measure the ppm before and after but not too clued up on it. I know it's best to measure the EC though.

I definitely appreciate you guys weighing in and helping out.

I will start a grow diary for the next run. Fist Bump

Good advice given above for sure.

when I used to grow in coco generally lower feed strength at higher frequency gives great results.
If no auto watering available hand feed once daily to run off.

I used to like a super-low feed instead of water only once a week or so if I wanted to ‘mini-flush’ if I was concerned of salt build up. This works better than water only I found (measure the run off to check) Also you don’t risk starving your plants if your diagnosis is wrong.

Good luck bro

Time to pop some more beans 😗

In coco the EC of the feed both in and out can tell you a lot. Here’s a link to explain it better

Hey hockey, I'm guessing you have been getting your info from growweedeasy.c om

I don't want to be a jerk but I found the site had a fair bit of bad advice.

In Coco you want to always keep your Coco wet because when it dries out it leaves salts behind and this will cause your EC too spike(which you don't want) I water 3 times a day and still have EC spikes every now and again normally after PK week.

Don't worry about over watering in Coco/perlite mix. Just don't water at lights off.

The idea of using plain water every other feed is for people who don't want to invest in a EC meter. This ensures you are constantly flushing excess salts out of your medium but the down side is your are constantly changing the growing medium and plants like to be kept in a stable medium. Not to mention that plain water has little benefit for the plant so really your just slowing or limiting growth. I grew like this my first go and I did get a decent bit of smoke, but ever since I've been ECing my feed and results have been a lot better.

Understanding EC and ph sounds complicated but really isn't to hard to figure out. Theres a good guide on Percy's you can check out if your still having issues you can pm me Fist Bump

Hope this helps Bud
