Hi there - on Saturday morning I PHed several 5 gallon buckets down to 6.0 and today they are reading 6.5-6.6. I certainly stirred it enough and waited for the meter to settle and I confirmed with second meter- do the ph down chemicals evaporate??
@improper_weed_viking well - it’s well water - it definitely warmed up from about 50 to 75 and was phed at 50. I didn’t realize it would change due to temp

On big swings I'd recheck the pH after it settles into a groove when the temps fluctuate. I grow in really hot summer temps and run hydroponics. When the ambient temp hits almost 40° my res is sitting almost at 34° and my pH is a runaway train. I'll pH back to 5.5 and in 3hrs I'll be sitting above 8.0. With town supply water occasionally they'll drop a bunch of nasty shit into the mains to give them a flush and that will screw a lot of things including pH up. Can't really say much about well water apart from I plan to use it in future lol

There is a natural buffering action in some media, and the degree to which the pH changes and/or stays can be affected by the amount of minerals in the medium and what type of compound you are using to alter the pH. I'm curious, what did you use and how much did you move it from its initial pH?

@im_sparky well my well water is extremely alkaline - 8.5 out of tap and very little solids per the meter - 98 ppm and I have no softener. I’m adding about 1.5 -2 teaspoons of the ph down in 5 gallons
