So how much New carbon is needed to replace the carbon in a 6"x24" and an 8"x24" carbon filter?
I'm thinking that I will replace the carbon in my filters as they are about a year and a half old, and have been running pretty steady. My grow room is empty at the moment and I'm remolding the place, so filters are on the honey-do list. My plan is to get the new carbon, remove the old carbon and replace. Then I can play with cleaning the old carbon so next time I'll have fresh carbon.
So I found this carbon that is blended especially for cannabis and it's called HS Cannablend Select. Looks about the same price as other places, but still cheaper than new filters.
So it's sold in: 5lb- $30, 10lb-$60, 30lb-$100, 75lb-$223, size 4/8
So I don't want to, but I'm probably going to have to. Open them up and dump them out and measure.
I don't want to find myself wrestling these two filters above a room full of flowers. So I'd better do it now while it's easier. Oh bother.
What does the Percy's Grow Team think of this preposterous undertaking? Any thoughts or good carbon connections? peace
@woodi2 Personally mate I would just buy a new filter. The volume of carbon you will need will differ from brand to brand i think. Youre not growing right now, and you wont need a filter for a few weeks atleast, so if you want to change the carbon i would crack it open to know for sure how much I need and then buy a bit extra to be sure you have plenty.
Mate you should get some pics up an shit when you do it
Totally over priced those filters, a bit of aluminium and carbon pellets
Yer man for sure mate, id like to see how much is saved by refreshing the carbon like this. Might be a good move for me too lol. Im getting into this whole reusing shit lol
I'd be happy to do a write up on it, I'm just dreading it. But why not. I guess I could try and wash the old carbon while I wait for the new. It would be over $500 usd to replace the filters, and I'm redoing other things with the system atm too. Well I have to take them down anyway so guess I'll start there.
@teleman maybe the new shit will last longer, don't know. But some strains just get outrageous with the aroma and that's when I'm questioning my filters. Is the filter just over run and can't scrub it, or is it fading on the carbon end of it. So got try something.

Let the mission begin bro! lol. If it saves you even $100 itll be worth it i think!
they sold me on it cause it's got special little rock in it just for cannabis!!!
This kind of talk turns me away from shit lol. Treated carbon pellets work the best man, they will absorb most of the organic molecules that pass through it, do you know what the special rock is called?
