As a organic grower I rely on soil amendments to provide the nutrients that my plants require over a extended period of time. so With the increase of organic soil, Super soil and living soil growers here at Percys I have decided to put together a list of soil amendments. (this is not a complete list) but hopeful it'll grow and make it easier for someone to find the info. ( all info was found searching the internet)
The 2 most important ingredients in organic soil
Compost- Slow release nutrients, also contains and feeds microbes.
Worm castings, source of slow release nutrients, make soil more absorbent, loaded with beneficial microbes and bacteria, castings contain humic acid to aid in nutrient absorption.
NITROGEN (N): an essential nutrient for plant vegetative growth and development, chlorophyll production and photosynthesis.
Nitrogen is needed in higher concentrations throughout the early stages of growth.(veg) but is required through the whole grow cycle in lesser amounts (flower)
Common sources of Nitrogen include
Blood Meal, 12, 0, 0
Fish emulsion, 5, 1, 1
Fish Meal, 8, 6, 0
Feather Meal, 12, 0, 0
Cottonseed Meal, 6, 2, 1
Alfalfa, 2.5, .5, 2.5
Coffee Grounds, 2, .3, .2
neam seed meal, 6, 2, 1
Barley, 1.75, .75, .5
Crab meal, 4, 3, 0
Guano, 7, 3, 1 ( guano varies )
insect frass, 3, 1, 1
Soybean meal, 7, 1, 2
PHOSPHORUS (P) is an essential nutrient for the growth of roots and flower
Common sources of phosphorus include
Bone Meal, 3, 15, 0
Fish Bone Meal. 4, 12, 0
Soft Rock Phosphate, 0, 33, 0 slow release
seabird guano, 0, 11, 0
POTASSIUM (K) or Potash, an essential nutrient for regulating metabolism, cellular growth, moving sugars from leaves to developing flowers and increased resistance to environmental stress and improved ability for the roots to collect, store, and use water.
Common sources of phosphorus include
Soluble Kelp Powder,
Kelp Meal, 1, .1, 2
Langbeinite, 0, 0, 22
Azomite, 0, 0, .02
Green sand, 0, 1.5, 7
granite dust, 0, 0, 5
CALCIUM (Ca) Calcium is important for the healthy formation of roots, stems, and new growth
helps to protect plants from heat stress, deals with neutralizing waste and toxic materials, strengthens cell walls and improves the structure and growth.
Common sources of calcium include
garden lime,
dolemite lime,
Aragonite ,
Oyster Shell Flour
Crab Meal,
Soft Rock Phosphate
egg shells, slow release
Gypsum,
Magnesium: Magnesium is crucial for photosynthesis to occur, necessary for producing chlorophyll, it also helps the plant use and absorb other nutrients.
Common sources of Magnesium include
Epsome salt,
Dolimite lime,
Trace minerals
Compost,
Kelp Meal,
Azomite,
When using organic amendments I would look for info to find out the release rate.
Some amendments will take longer to become plant available than it takes to grow our plant and would be better suited for gardens that reuse the soil. (I like to use a diverse variety of amendments in my soils, Which may be wasteful to many growers not reusing soil).
Sometimes even though we have enough organic nutrients in our soil we experience deficiencies
here are some common issues to look for before adding things to the soil.
Nitrogen is leached out by excess run off. I do not water to run off as i feel it is unnecessary as I am not using any salt based nutrients.
A phosphorus Deficiency can be caused by low Soil Temperatures, compact soil or indelicate aeration as it reduces the soil oxygen supply and inhibits the roots ability to grow and locate water and nutrients, Over watering.
The most common reason for potassium deficiency in soil is simply that the soil is lacking proper organic matter. High levels of salt, calcium or magnesium can affect the plants ability to draw in proper amounts of potassium from the soil.
Calcium Deficiency, acidic, alkaline soil (soil Ph), soil that is too dry and cold soil.
Magnesium Deficiency, Magnesium levels are often closely connected to pH (keep soil Ph above 6.0), over watering, high potassium levels (plants may take up the potassium instead of Magnesium).
Hope this helps some one. looking forward to seeing more added to the list.

@macky ive been meaning to get a list up

An incredibly helpful and informative post T bro 😎
Top work all round
Time to pop some more beans 😗
Great post! Thanks for sharing twisted👍
@templegrower sent me this list a while back. He may have the link to the file still I just printed it off here are pics though. Gives the time frames of how long things take to break down. Very useful 👌
@mossbeardmitch nice thats very useful. Tg has opened my eyes when it come to organic, He definately knows his shit.

My plants are need some extra potassium, but im doing this shit all organic.... what is good to fix this issues? Maybe some molasses?
Everything else seems fine, just a K def kicking in and i need to fix it before it becomes a problem
