I have been using vitamin C to remove the chlorine/chloramine from my city tap water. In higher consintrations it effects PH. It is also a pain to mix/dissolve. I recently picked up API tap water conditioner
1 drop per gallon will do the same job and I'm assuming if it's good for fish it won't hurt plants. What worries me is that its active (and believe only) ingredient is sodium thiosulfate (sodium thiosulfate is combined with silver nitrate to make STS spray for feminized seeds). I believe the silver is what effects the plants and either way it would have to be sprayed on BUT I don't KNOW this for a fact
Has anyone ever used it before? Think it will affect plant hormones by itself?
What do organic growers use to treat their water?
Thanks growmies 🌱💚
Most organic growers will use rain water, or bottled/ mineral water mate.... I think lol. Then if they were to use tap water, they "de-gas" it, by letting it sit for 24 hours with an airstone in the water to let the chlorine evaporate.
I wouldnt use that stuff for my plants mate. Eco Thrive do a water neutraliser try that mate, its made for the plants

@macky awesome, thank you. Unfortunately my city uses chloramine (chlorine boned with ammonia) so the 24 hour aerated won't due (at least from what I've heard). Will definitely check them out as I'm not buying bottled water for my plants (and would need an 18L jug every watering).
You know if their product is available in Canada?
@grower-urban should be mate, I dont see why not.... have you considered using reverse osmosis? maybe that will remove most of the shit?

@macky ya but those systems are a little pricey and I'm just a renter.
Was on ecothrive site and they even say their product is a concentrated vitamin C (I like companies like that, no BS). Guess I'll continue grinding and mixing vit C tabs until I can track down a source for their products.
Thanks again, appreciate it
*idea* What if I take the time to dissolve as much vitamin C as possible into a bottle of water. If I know how much i put in, what actually got dissolved, and the amount of water... I could use a dropper to add the correct amount to treat my water? 🤔
@grower-urban risky lol, but doable. if you get the ratios right

@macky you know I risk it for a biscuit lol. Really depends how much the stuff costs at my local hydro store (they over charge for EVERYTHING)
