Threw a bag seed into a mason jar with some dirt and put it under the cheap LED I use for my cactus plants during winter.
Going to give this one away to a buddy this week, hoping he can keep me updated with pics if it works out
Ooo thats going to be cool to see the roots growing in there probably going to be very beautiful. Kinda reminds me of a pot with sealed lid, with some different grevens in there we had in school that we were not allowed to open, it Kinda watered itself and sustained itself in there by reusing the moisture, dont remember what that technique is called though

I thought the roots were better kept in the dark? Am I wrong. Come on guys educate me I’m here to learn. I thought about running one in an old soda bottle but stopped short of that because of the clear container.

Had a high idea of using a jar and agar. Both for seeds and clones but the idea came to me when thinking of a clean clone process when cutting clones outdoors for indoor growing.
Figure.. If I mix agar powder with RO water, root stimulate and a little nutes then sterilize it inside the jar. Cut a clone, dip it or scrub it with a peroxide or bleach in water solution then immediately into sterile jars and reseal. Grow it in the jar for a few weeks inside the tent without contamination worries...maybe
Would love some opinions on this as I have no experience but agar is used for tissue cultures so... ??
@monkeydo Some plants can grow in clear containers but one thing to consider is mould, mildew and algae growth similar to aquariums and terrariums. Not too sure you want that in your roots. I personally think it would be ok for young plants but transplant or cover clear container with some sort of removable sleeve so roots could be checked now and then, if you're into that.
We just smiled n waved sittn there on that sack o seeds
@hart OK that makes sense. Thank you for that info. So it’s not so much as bad for roots but favorable for things that might attack the root zone. I had remembered something about roots, light, and dwc but I have never run dwc. I appreciate this community because it makes me better. This old dog is still learning!!

it is getting transplanted for sure, not enough oxygen flow in a mason jar to keep a full plant I don't think. I just wanted to throw a seed in a jar and see if it popped, I'm going to use this method again for my proper grows in the summer
