I've been watching a lot of build your own or DIY hydroponic system videos never tried to do hydro but would love to test the waters just wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction

Easiest hydro system would have to be DTW(drain to waste) coco, if you are looking more water park adventures then something like Deep Water Culture/ Recirculation DWC, flood and drain or ebb and flow might be the better way to go.

I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.

Could not agree more. Coco is sometimes overlooked as a hydro system but it is the best of both worlds. The coco acts like a buffer and greatly increases the system stability. Yield’s would typically be a little lower than DWC but there’s less work to it

"Ebb and flow-" and "Drip-" systems are intuitive, quite easy to manage and quite cheap.

@fipser thanks I watched a couple videos about those and they seemed like something I would enjoy

As a full time dwc grower it's very easy for a beginner honestly... I get very decent results great yields and all I have to do is change the waters with a nutrient solution once a week check the ph 2 to 3 times a week and train the ladies. It works so well It's what I started with my brother does coco and he's always overwhelmed with work i just set them and forget them it's very easy... however there are some learning curves to everything so I do still caution there is some work and understanding how plants react to straight water systwms but i do recommend dwc as a good starting point to High yielding and fun salt grows.

@zellisorange the only DWC problem for beginners is the lack of a buffer, fuck up just once and that’s that

Dwc works great with a little guidance but can be tricky without it. I've seen a few first time growers here have good success on their first time out and others not so much, but I think you can say that about any grow medium. I can fuck up dirt twice sideways, but water is a piece of cake. I guess it depends on how you were raised. lol 🤠
